Suzuki Hayabusa - 10 Things to Know Before Buying One. | 0-186mph in 10 Seconds | Pros vs Cons

If you are considering buying a Suzuki Hayabusa, watch this first!
I have listed 10 things that you will need to know before buying one.
The insurance alone will put most potential younger buyers off from buying one.
The Busa is definitely worth the price!

This video will help you weigh up the pros and cons of the Suzuki Hayabusa before making your purchase.

The Suzuki Hayabusa has been revised three times in its 20+ years of production history. There were rumors of a higher-capacity one in 2021, but the final revelation showed basically the same motorcycle but with different styling and a lot more electronics and a slight reduction of peak power (though nothing significant, but any number that goes down upsets people who are used to the numbers going up).

I have a 2015
1. I haven't had any issues with my kickstand. Lucky I guess?
2. I have Geico I pay $488/yr for my busa and a '96 Shadow 1100. I have crazy amounts of coverage. Might have to look into State Farm lol
3. Governor - Check.
4. Bridgestone Battle Axes SUCK!!
5. Accurate.
6. I say the same thing. Keeping the front down is the trick.
7. It gets attention. Preiod.
8. Mine was 12, 5 Brand new in '15
9. Pulls like a freight train.
10. Only if you stop...(I'm kidding). But I've never been stopped on mine. I don't ride like a Street Rossi, but I have been known to exceed speed limits from time to time.

Good video man.

Had three Hayabusa's, still have my Gen 2, '11. Kick stand . Never a problem. What ? News to me. Wheel stands are not and never have been an issue. And I've drag raced my bike. Never broken the 10 second mark yet though. Insurance. never a problem. The only cops that have pulled me over have been friendly ones to have a look at my bike or tell me to take it easy with the speed. Never had a ticket. We managed 270 kmh on the road from Napier to Taupo a few years ago 2 up with all the gear on board. Fully loaded. They get along Ok. From New Zealand.

(I) Gen. I and II Hayabusa kickstand is just fine, never had trouble. (II) Insurance - I am lucky I guess ... too. (III) Delete the governor in the ECU (where allowed). (IV) My standard tires were stiff and long-lasting. Replaced them for sth. with more grip. (V) Electronics: ABS is good and useful (but I don't have it) - I am an older guy coming from the days when these didn't exist, don't miss it ... in the serious riding schools they teach one throttle control - will do. (VI) Agreed ! Yes, the front tires gets light pretty quickly ... (VII) Yes ! (VIII) Yeah ... (IX) Yeah ... (X) True ! U think you go 70 kph and you go 120 kph. The 'cop problems' we don't have outside the U.S. ...

I drive the new Gen. 3 Busa. Bought it brand new for 16400€. Its the best bike i ever had. The only con. for me is the limited lean angle when you want to cornering hard... But you are still able to geht the knee down if you want. Quick-Shifer is awesome, fuel consumption is better than my old bike (KTM 990 Super Duke). Great engine, reliable and powerfull and so on... One of the best streetbikes ever made.

I had a Gen-1 Hayabusa back in '03. It was my first motorcycle. I put 10k miles on it in 4 months of owning it. I loved riding it, it was just so much fun. I totally agree on #10 of your list. If one is not very careful and cognizant of their speed on this machine, the points on your license will start accumulating at a fast rate. I got two speeding tickets on it, and almost a third. The only reason I didn't get the third ticket was because the officer received a more pertinent call while he had me pulled over, so he had to leave. After that, I purchased a "Valentine One" radar detector for the bike. That helped. I eventually wrecked the bike. I was coming up on a traffic light in a 55 zone, and the girl in front of me (in a green Saturn) hesitated at the light as if she was going to go through it (the light had turned yellow), then immediately braked and stopped. I had my head turned away when she braked as I thought she was going to go through the light, so I was going to go through it too right behind her. So, that was the end of my fun with the 2003 Hayabusa. That was 21 years ago, and I haven't rode a motorcycle since. I'm now ready to get back into it, and going to look at a Gen-3 Hayabusa this weekend. There's just no other motorcycle for me. It's Busa or nothing. I'm pleased to see that the new Gen-3s have all the tech, including CRUISE CONTROL. That should help me keep my speeds down. I'll still get another Valentine One radar detector for it though. I"m 21 years wiser and mature than I was the last time I had the beast, so hoping that helps as well.

All good facts. To add to that I'd also tell a new owner to up your riding experience as much as possible before jumping on the back of one these, this machine is not to be taken for granted. Have fun, stay safe.

My insurance in new jersey was $38 months before I layed my bike down for 3 years also, when I laid the bike down, I had USAAPL insurance they paid the bike off when it was deemed to be total in less than seven days. Also we have to keep stand all they have to do was buy after market kickstand

Never had an issue with the kickstand on any busa. The stock tires are slippery as fuck. I couldn’t wear them out. I was going to crash it first. Change the stock tires out asap. No cops don’t ticket you for racing idling behind cars in traffic. Only been stopped 3 times in 10 years and I rode fast. Twice for speeding once for my plate being sideways. You are more likely to speed since it actually prefers to sit around 100 mph on the freeway. It’s hard to go 60-65. Trust me. Also they get great mpg. He didn’t say that. 40-45.

I have the same bike, the governor of 186 is an ecu flash away. Cops are also ass holes to all sport bike riders I feel like. These bikes are also crazy stable at speed and actually are pretty comfy to ride.

My insurance is 190 for the year on a gen 2, 2013. My rear tyre has 6k on it and I ain't being kind to it. Kickstand has never gave me bother and it's been parked in my garage when not used for 4 years. Never dropped once. By far the easiest bike I've ever ridden, until you twist the throttle, then your just a passenger

crashed my hayabusa going 160 because there was a tire on the highway. luckily I only slid across the road with full gear on so I could pretty much walk away amazingly. They are true works of art but you have to be prepared for risk factor of riding motorcycles

When I lived in Louisiana anything over 1K was considered a cruiser cheaper insurance.

No dash or body cam and you were charged with racing? Was there dash or body cam of you racing or showing exhibition of speed?

Having had Busas (three) since 2002, Sidestand is hopeless - yes on all models - why? crazy - needs modifying - Insurance - yes, crazy, but the power of the thing scares any insurer - Governer - why would you want to go more than 300klm ph - Tyres - yes - never got more than 3, 000 klm out of any rear - Assist options - tech - yes the Gen 1s and 2s are scary without assists but, hey, I am old school and didn't mind having to check myself regularly rather than have the bike do it - now I'm old the Gen 3 assists do help ha ha - wheelies - impossible not to but there is so much weight on the front it isn't hard to control like other sport bikes - Reputation and style - yes, everyone knows it - great social magnet but also completely bullet proof - never had a mechanical problem at all - totally reliable and predictable - Price - cheap as, I can't believe how cheap they have always been, even the Gen 3 is reasonable - Acceleration - insane - I have never had a bigger thrill - Danger to your licence - absolutely - nuts because it looks hot? - however, it is maybe an odd thing but I quite happily and mentally comfortably punted along at times at the speed limit, watching other bikes blitz me trying to get me to race - you know, and they know, they have no chance - so the choice is yours - you don't have to race to still command respect - oh, and keep your licence. I never got booked once on my busa - but broke the limit everytime I went out - maybe just lucky. It's a lucky bike.
