Other common comorbidities worth mentioning are issues with auditory processing or issues with fine motor control

The stats that really stuck with me from reading Dr. Russell Barkley–of those who go undiagnosed until adulthood, over 60% have one comorbid condition and 30% have two or more. Timely diagnosis is so important! I didnt get dx until i was 24 or 25, and by then i had developed two comorbid mental health conditions as a result of growing up with unaknowleged/untreated adhd.

The problem is when the comorbidities cover up the adhd. My anxiety was so bad they didn’t bother looking into adhd even though that’s what I went to them for. Then it was my bad depression too.

PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) is one of the mood disorders that I don't hear about much despite the prevalence. Over 40% of folks with ADHD who have a menstrual cycle also have PMDD, while the rate for the general population is around 28%. The rate is even higher for those with autism (highest estimates are ~92%).

Hypermobility is more common in people with ADHD. I'd love to know why.

I've had tics into adulthood.. They get better and worse sometimes, but it's not medication.. It's EMBARRASSING

This is timely, thank you. I saw a post on another SM this morning with a graphic showing comorbidities and %, published by a UK university— a paper reviewing reviews of “ADHD” studies. Only when I read the paper did I find some studies included Autism instead of specifically ADHD subjects. Some things in the graphic did not match up with their text of their own findings, including results of what they called “low quality” research. Misleading.

I have an unspecified mood disorder, I'm on the fetal alcohol spectrum (ARND), and throw in depression and anxiety. It is not fun some days.

I have Dyscalculia as a comorbid learning disability. My GAD is a later addition that developed in my 20s as a result of trauma.

My sleep doctor says that sleep apnea is pretty common with ADHD.

Fibromyalgia! I read one medical journal article that recommended that anyone diagnosed with Fibromyalgia is also tested for ADHD. Because around 40% of people with Fibromyalgia have ADHD.

Tourette's for me. I don't doubt the autism possibility. Toss in MDD and progressive loss of fine motor control, as mentioned by James in this thread.
