Why I Started a NEW ACCOUNT For TROPHY HUNTING

I have been a trophy-hunter for a very long time. After a few years, I've been wondering if starting a new account is worth it.
Thanks to all the people who have responded on Reddit and Discord.

I found your YouTube account searching to see if anyone else is having the same problem. I have 48 platinum trophies, about 10-15 of them are from games that I’m not proud of. I’m going to do the same thing and start a new account. I suppose it gives me an excuse to play some of my favourite games all over again l but I’ll miss some of my more difficult and time consuming platinums

I created a new account as well, for the sole reason that I really enjoy seeing the trophy level go up faster 😆

With all of the variety on PS Now/PS Plus, I’ve enjoyed picking and choosing what game to play before committing. As a result, my completion rate is around 25.65% and I’m really proud of it! My goal is to keep that rate above 25% for this year.

Since I’ve done this (About 100-150 trophies per percentage point), I’ve been able to clear games on my backlog and appreciate what I own instead of only looking at the games I don’t own.

I still struggle with focusing but it’s been pretty rewarding. :)

My answer too that is no you shouldn’t make a new account because you’ll eventually end up in the same situation. Plus you’ll start avoiding games you probably want to play but are purposely ignoring because they have online trophies or very hard trophies and you won’t be having any fun. See for me I just don’t give a dam my trophy list is a mixture of everything. Sport games racing games shooters online games story mode games so on. There are some games on my list that will never be 100% but I had fun playing all the games.

I agree with the people that keep their old account. Mine is 13 years old.
I have 5 very, very easy Platinums. I call ’em grubby Plaitnums (but Shovelware might also be suitable) and I hate seeing them on my account. I have so many unfinished games on my profile it is painful. BUT i embraced the pain and take it as a beacon of never buying and playing a game like it. I have an account with now 60% completion rate (I worked my way up from 40% - in two years). I love to polish my account. Every earned trophy makes it a little bit better. And then there is the regrets.
I will never earn the PS3 Platinum for Uncharted 2 because I decided to not play 1 match in a specific mode before the servers were shut off (the servers were empty that day). The Last Of Us PS3 will forever be unfinishd because I didn’t care for multiplayer trophies back then. In 2019 I earned the Platinum for The Last Of Us Remastered as my #50. This unlocked so many things in my life as a trophy hunter. And my profile shows it. I even earned the Platinum for inFamous (PS3) this year. This game was the game with my first ever trophy. That Platinum took me 13 years to earn.
My plan is to burry all the Platinums I am not proud of under a pile of Platinums I am proud of. 12 grubby Platinums are not that much.

I understand that you were not happy with your old account. I share some of the pain you felt. I understand that everyone is different and has different priorities. You have a voice and you use it. This takes some balls. I respect that. Good luck with your new profile. May you find the peace you have been seeking.

Ideally you would be able to remove or relock games you don't want or want to get the trophies for again. It should of been implemented by now.

I always like starting new accounts for each system. Like a clean slate for the generation. I’ve started 2 on the ps5. One is for my entire family and friends to play on. Lots of single trophy games. Have the ps premium subscription so kids and nephews just download and play whatever they feel like. This is on digital only ps5.

Recently got a ps5 disc version and started my 2nd account that is personal to me. Astro’s Playroom was my first platinum. And starting Disco Elysium play through now. I’m not using any trophy guides for my first play through because I don’t want spoilers. I like meandering through a game and getting hung up in the twists and turns. I don’t really even look at the trophy list during the first play through.

Such a fun hobby, enjoy it however it suits you.

I don’t mind having harder platinums mixed with easy ones. Whatever’s on the list is on the list. Part of a history you can look back at years from now

I can relate to you man, i had an account with 39 plats but because of my greed of getting all multiplayer trophies i started a few games that i wasnt able to get the online trophies, at the time my dad went on surgery during the covid pandemic somehow he managed to survive, so i ended up with unattainable trophies in my account and my life was very chaotic at the time so i lost all the motivation to play, only 6 months later when a guy sold me a copy of Blazblue then i became motivated again and started a new account, so far i am feeling satisfied with my decision 😊.

The problem is that a lot of games have grindy online trophies. A lot of those older multiplayer don't age well if they are dead servers. I'm mainly grinding online trophies on the PS Vita and will likely avoid online trophies if I ever get the PS5.

When it comes to trophy hunting. Be a gamer first and hunt games you enjoy rather than a count.

Cleaning up the backlog will jump the percentage up rather quickly. I’m working on my backlog this year & super close to 70%.

After nearly 15 years I'm finally leaving trophy hunting. At age 45 and 212 platinums I've realized how many other games I've missed because of grinding out trophies or 2nd playthroughs. Constantly following guides or stressing about missed trophies. Also coordinating online trophies just sucked. At least now I can go into games blind, not have to worry about a 2nd playthrough or beating it on the hardest difficulty. How many games are easily attainable for the platinum without following a guide since there are endless collectibles. I'll still go for a few on games/franchises I love but I'm done. My best luck to you if you continue to trophy hunt.

Dude i stumbled upon this video 'cause I'm thinking myself to make a new account, but I don't know if I should!
I don't wanna do it because of what other people think of my completion percentage, I couldn't care less.
It's because of my OCD! I can't stand those 1% trophy lists!
I just want everything neat and clean.
But at the same time I've got trophy lists on my main account like FFX REMASTERED or DEMON'S SOULS that I wouldn't want to do all over again to be honest.
So I don't really know what to do!
If only Sony would give us that damn option to delete trophy lists man!

Gaming should be about the experience you have of that game. And the memories whether you collect all the trophies or not. This is coming from someone who is addicted to trophies and trying to stop that addiction. I hate that I can’t just enjoy a game the way I want to because of trophies that don’t actually really matter in the grand scheme of things.
