The bucket progressively gets smaller as new handles are made 😂😂

Brilliant! I first started using these when I got a couple free from Topps Tiles. They were super strong and lasted for years. Layer, I purchased a couple from Bodge&Quit. Absolutely terrible quality, and failed on my first outing, with the handle breaking on the way up the drive to the job. I used gaffer tape to fix it, and now use it to store clamps in the garage.

if you have an old hose you can cut one side of it and put it in the top of the handle you cut to make it more comfortable

I 'sew' the cracked parts together with string/twine. Bucket capacity maintained and the 'fix' can be redone or extended if necessary.

We don’t have (or say least I’ve never seen) these buckets in the USA. I’m always jealous of them in your videos. They seem useful. We’re always doing things with 5 gallon buckets, which are also useful, but those seem better for lots of things.

Bravo for finding a solution instead of binning them. Apparently they're great for toys etc too.

Oo thats a good idea. When my old landlord had builders in they chucked loads in a skip. I was moving to a house with a big garden so removed them from the skip. With permission . They've come in so handy in my garden. Now i know how to sort the broken ones. 😊

People used to do this kind of thing all the time. Those who lived through the Great Depression were masters at extending the life of something. Great job!

I bought a yellow one and used it for my son's toys when he was little and even put water in it for him to sit and play in the summer outside. 😊

Great save Keith, one less item for land fill, for now at least ! The best one are made from recycled car tyres but they're much more costly and tend to not be as large capacity - often sold for Equestrian use !

The gorilla brand buckets last alot longer, i do a similar thing to mine. I drill the holes on the side and use old ratchet straps to create a shoulder strap on some and loops on others for my hands 👍

They break because they deliberately use a brittle plastic. We don't buy them any more. We use Red Gorilla buckets direct from their website. So far they have lasted 8 times as long as the rubbish we got from most diy and trade stores. And they're still going while the others are all in the skip.

Blindingly brilliant in the simplicity of it.

Nice fix. I live out of these at work. The howdens ones have the best handles for the money

Good idea! But when you do come to replacing, I strongly recommend Rubi tubs. I have had mine for years and used them for removing rubble from site, and they have never broken. They only cost 8 quid. I found them after years of despair with these cheaper alternative tubs.

I'm an avid upcycler and reclaimer. But buying a product that's breaking over and over is a bad practice in my opinion. The best buckets, I've found, is made out of big, sturdy plastic jugs with the top cut of, then make handles out of to pieces of rope. Indestructable! My oldest are 15 years old.

Spray the whole thing with a bed liner or flex seal it would probably hold up nicely and give you a nice grip on the outside
