I'd be down to be open-minded if they did this in the MCU, but realistically I don't think this is going to be the case so I would be fine with multiversal variants or they just get established later in the timeline of the MCU.

The reasoning behind bringing Sue is that her father is one of the military high-ups and she's instrumental in getting them onto the base, and she basically demands to go with Reed as her repayment for her help. She's also familiar with the life support systems on the ship. For Johnny, it's twofold: first, he's not going to let himself be seen as not brave enough to do something his sister is doing, and second, he's basically an intuitive genius when it comes to combustion (especially as it applies to engines and fuel systems). He's been customizing hot rod cars since he was old enough to handle the tools. So he volunteers to man the fuel/engineering controls, and Reed trusts he can handle it, because he knows Johnny is like a Mozart of motors. Ben, of course, is a test pilot and has been trained in the astronaut program, so he's a 100% necessity, and Reed designed the ship.
