Nothing like taking the 2014 SVT Shelby GT500 for a drive on a chilly and rainy morning. I thought I'd take a couple cameras along for the ride and go over some of the reasons on why I think a 2014 (or 2013) SVT Shelby GT500 Mustang is a pretty good buy. These reasons were what sold me on the car 3 months ago and as times are changing for the worse, I think this generation of GT500 will be highly sought after as the years go on. Let me explain...

I couldn’t agree more. I got my 2013 GT500 with 7500 miles for 48, 500 in December of 2020. All summer I got calls from the dealership that I bought the car from offering me more money than what I bought the car for. This baby is staying with me forever though.

I can attest that the engine is bulletproof. I've had mine in Germany the last 6 years and the only thing negative that has happened is one of the plastic coolant caps let a little coolant blow out. I cleaned it off and everything is good to go and she continues to ride between 120 to 150+ MPH on the autobahns. There are very few sections of the autobahns where you can get near 200 MPH as there is always some sort of maintenance going on or you run into someone who shouldn't be in the left lane.

I have a 2013 deep impact blue/no stripe glass roof GT500. I see nothing but upside in price for these. When I first went to buy one from new, the dealer wanted 25K over sticker and I told him he was nuts and I ceased to look for one because prices were out of control and finding the specifications that I wanted I knew wasn't going to happen. But I continued to look around and about a year later, I sourced one that was up for sale at a dealer out of state in Iowa. It had 3700 miles on it and I knew it was what I looking for. The negotiated sales price was $59K on an example that originally had a sticker price of just under $70 K. Mine is a garage queen ( I know, but I do have a small collection) and now has 4000 miles on it. Per the Marti report it is 1 out of 7 made as mine is. Thanks for the always informative and fun videos.

Damn right it’s a solid investment. 2010-14 is the best class Mustangs created, not to mention how cool these cars look. Even if they lose value they’re still just a beautiful car to own and will never go out of style.

I have a 2012, and I love it. I bought it new and now it has 16k miles on it. And these cars they only gonna go up in value. The new generation are going to be impressed when they go to car shows and look at these cars with a manual transmission. They just don’t know what they’ve missed. Great video!!!

Watched this video over a year ago and knew I always wanted one of these, but I swayed away because I couldn't afford it and I didn't know how to drive stick shift yet. I had a 2019 GT with the 10 speed auto, I sold that car a few months ago and recently purchased my 14' GT500 and learning stick shift on it. What a wild ride it is.

Great video! All of the points you made were spot on. The driving experience of a manual is a huge factor for me + all of that torque. I have the exact same GT500 as you and absolutely love it. It’s here to stay for a long time.

Yes they are a ton of fun and the amount of thumbs up i get while driving it are awesome! I have a 13 and channel on here too. Nothing huge just some stuff I put together. I bought mine at the right time last July with only 10k on her. Since then the value has shot through the roof. Finally have my dream car in my stable. Best of luck with yours!

10 Reasons the 13/14 GT500 is the best.

1) First Mustang to reach 200 mph stock
2) Reaches 60 mph in first gear
3) No gas tax and gets 26 MPG HWY
4) Last (at this time) manual GT500
5) Engine, suspension, brakes, drive shaft all upgraded
6) Can compete with cars double the price
7) All new set up compared to 07-12 Shelbys
8) Gears are tall so it's an excellent cruiser
9) No major issues like engine (GT350) or transmission (MT82)
10) Finally, Carroll Shelby made Mustang really shine in the 1960s. While Ford did most of the work after 1966, this was the last Shelby he saw and rode in, stating how great and special it was. His dream was to build a race car the average working man could afford. I feel like the 13/14 GT500 is the result of that dream. It was bought in the high 50s and lower 60s and could smoke 150k cars.

I paid 32k for my 2011 GT500 almost 3 years ago. It had 17k miles on it. Today it’s worth 42k with 20k miles. Fun as hell to drive.

I’m biased - but many of your points are the reason I bought my ‘14 GT500 almost 1 1/2 years ago. As you say the experience is important. I have way more fun driving this than the ‘16 GT350 I had before it. No doubt it will hold value.

Thanks for sharing. I recently picked up an 07 gt500 with 30k miles on it. It has the carol shelby signature plate between the center vents. I’m hoping the official signature helps with value. Anyways I love it and I traded my late model mustang gt for it. I prefer solid axle also. Its the 5.4 liter.

Excellent video, couldn't agree with you more! I bought the car for exactly the same reasons you saw in it. Mine had 20K on the odometer and is a convertible and paid 56k for it about a year ago. I think they are the last of their breed solid axle manual transmission and big horsepower. What a more perfect recipe for a great driver experience. I am an older guy 60 years old but raced karts in my younger years and snagged a couple of big trophies at regional events in the kart world and I say that because this car reminds of the experience I got when racing karts. Not not that they are that similar in specs, but the adrenaline rush you get when driving this car is similar to doing close to 100mph in a kart with your butt half an inch off the pavement and drafting somebody a quarter inch off their bumper. It's the adrenaline rush you get whether it's trying to beat somebody on the track or handling big horsepower mustang when it's trying to Buck you off LOL

This has been my dream car for ages. Eventually I'll get one as for now I have a 2013 v6 which I'm modding to get the most potential from. Hopefully I don't expire before I can afford the 2013 Gt500.
