Disc vs. Drum Brakes

This video is all about explaining how disc and drum brakes work and also the advantages of the two, come along and take a look at some of my bikes and the cars near my home.

What is your impression of the Honda CBR 250 RA with ABS brakes? Is the ABS worth extra bucks?

I hoped you would do a brake-stand on one of the bikes at the end of the video – a little disappointed but I guess tires are expensive. I think this is the first video that did not have the word "beer" in it. I am a little scared ... "one of several videos on brakes".

A slight correction if I may, drum brakes are extremely more efficient than disc brakes as they use only 300psi to stop and disc brakes can use thousands of psi which is the reason for the hydraulic lines to help the pads apply pressure onto the disc. Drum brakes only require around 300psi and they are at max efficiency with the only draw back being that they don't allow much braking past one good hard brake and with the traffic that accumulates today it tends to be better to have disc brakes. If you try braking the first time on a drum brake car it will slow down as fast or even faster than disc brakes, but only that first time until the brakes have cooled down.

You actually can bleed breaks yourself with the plastic tube method. This link uses the method I as well use . Some proponents claim that using DOT 5 silicone fluid totally eliminates moisture contamination problems and has a very high and low temperature rating. Although 10 times more expensive than Got 3 ans 4 and requires a complete system drain prior to use.

I've watched a LOT of vids from China showing scooters. Why do you almost NEVER see top box's on them? There so commonly seen in UK and US...
