I feel like Lapis and Jasper's relationship was really well done metaphorically for how abusive relationships are.

Honestly, as much as I love lapis, I think people forget this was abusive on both ends, Jasper using lapis as a means to gain strength and hurt others, and lapis keeping jasper trapped with her unable to escape, it was a prison for both of them

Fun fact: In real life, malachite is toxic when exposed/placed in water

That is a prime example of a trauma bond. Sometimes, people who go through trauma end up getting attached to their abusers to the point where it’s hard for them to leave them behind

I remember hearing Lapis say she missed her as a 12-13 year old and being SO confused. I didn't really understand the complexity of toxic relationships the way I do now, so back then I always had the mindset of 'If ur bf or gf mistreats you just leave'

Looking back on it now, this was implimented into the story so well as were all the other abusive relationships. Steven universe was an amazing show

The tittle says: Remember this is abuse; this video isn't a ship video its just reminding that Lapis was also toxic

I feel bad for both of them. Jasper just needed someone who cared for her, and lapis has had a ton of trauma. They were both kinda toxic tho, weren’t they?

Luckily Lapis had Peridot to have a nice experience in her life

I think a lot of people are forgetting that Lapis was also an abuser. I mean, they both did not so great things but it wasn’t just Jasper. Lapis literally admitted that she liked taking her anger out on Jasper and that she liked hurting her. And yes, Jasper did kinda pressure her into fusion but it was Lapis who kept Malachite under the ocean. Just a reminder.

lapis fused with jasper is a really perfect representation of people who end up compensating from their traumatizing experience, after being traumatized or even just getting hurt, you will always have that feeling of getting even since you want people to know what you've felt from it, you can feel the remnants from her that got addicted to it, specially when she said she misses it, even though she's trying to move on

Me and my mom. She always tells me how pathetic and useless am I. Thinks that I'm her property even in my 20, because I live in her house. But if I leave her for a month to live with grandma, In third day I'll miss her badly. Even if I go live by myself, I still miss her and want back

So, the concept of someone who was in a toxic and abusive relationship missing it and hating that she misses it is a really nasty, complex and realistic thing that I would never have expected to see in what started off as such a goofy klds show

I thought she was just stressed about other stuff like homeland or something back then. Didn't realize she was actually affected and traumatized with her relationship with jasper. I thought she was stupid for missing malachite, now I realize, it's hard to leave your abusive partner. I'm really glad Rebecca or whoever wrote this mentioned toxic relationships or portrayed them

The whole Jasper and Lapis thing actually scared me so much as a kid. Sometimes when I’m trying to sleep I remember it and Malachite honestly mortified me.

I think there’s blindness in both sides.
Jasper fans often will deem Lapis as a devil who was a monster towards Jasper and should be punished and never redeemed, completely ignoring how abusive Jasper was towards Lapis and literally everyone else in the show.
Lapis fans will ignore Lapis’ wrongdoings because she is overall a good leaning character.
Both of these perspectives completely ignore the point of the show, that no situation is black and white, and Malachite’s arc, unfused and fused was awful for BOTH of them almost equally. Jasper was abusive towards Lapis ever since they met, using her strength, greater than Lapis’, to push her around like a rag doll, forcing information out of her, patronizing and belittling her, peer pressuring her into fusing. Lapis took her anger out on Jasper for months under the ocean, in a way that was also physically for Lapis. The difference is that Lapis didn’t want to be Malachite ever again, and Jasper would do anything to be that again. Both characters changed over time, the difference is that Jasper refused to change for the better.

Lapis: "you. Took EVERYTHING FROM ME"

Jasper: "NUH UH"

The first singer sounded kinda sounded like Jasper in the second "One last kiss!" verse

when i was younger and watched this episode for the first time, i was incredibly dense and didn’t understand what Lapis meant by missing Jasper. i thought the series was trying to shoehorn a shoddy ship and this was the start of Lapis forgiving Jasper. i understand trauma bonds now
