FDA Conspiracy and Raw Pet Food?

The FDA seems to have an 'extreme' bias when it comes to Raw Pet Food.

I'm feeding my long-haired Shepherd raw and she's healthy, happy, her fur is glossy and everyone tells me she's such a beautiful dog. I find that company pet food is very suspicious and part of vets' income certainly comes from their contracts with the brand they flog.

My dogs have been eating human grade raw meat & food for over 16 years and absolutely no sickness related to their food.

If you really love your dogs, feed them species appropriate food = Raw.

I have tried feeding my dog kibble but he just won't eat the stuff so I started feeding him raw food which he loves. He made the choice and that's good enough for me. He is now a happier healthier dog with no allergies.

Hi... just love your videos! I started watching them because I had a 17 year old dog coughing, sneezing, watery eyes. He's much better now I'm happy to report and more perky than ever! He has his prance back in his step. I upped his nutrition with a multi vitamin, a natural allergy supplement (he had been on steroids for a couple of years for itchy skin), and started cooking food for him (without spices unless it's beneficial). I also started giving him sardines packed in water a couple of times a week. He loves apples and raw vegetables such as carrots and celery dipped into a little hummus. That's worked for him and hasn't been to the vet for a check up or to get a new prescription for steroids. I'm now encouraged to check into raw food options. I wasn't sure how healthy that was but thought it was best to get him off of dry kibbles so I started cooking for him. Thank you for all that you do!

Did not know my dogs could get salmonella, been feeding them raw chicken and beef for 7 years never an issue - never a vet bill. Love your work - your the greatest. Maybe a video now about salmonella in relations to dogs and cats. I am a vegetarian lol

I have 3 adult cats and have been feeding them raw for almost 5 years. Their health is exceptional compared to any previous pets (dogs/cats) I have had. Do your research on your suppliers and where they obtain the meat and where its processed. Its about quality same as you would consider for yourself and your family.

Yup. There must be. I told my vet yesterday that I was starting my older dog on some dehydrated raw dog food and I thought she would come right through the phone she sounded angry. I just listened to her spiel. went home and intended to find out more online. I agree with you that there is a bias against raw food. In my opinion, pets are ill-served (pardon no pun intended) by the FDA and there needs to be better and more honest oversight of not only pet food industry but the whole agra-empire that feeds the domestic animals that are used as food. Take out the GMO corn and other poisons FIRST. Enforce standards of safe, wholesome livestock. THEN they can chew me out (sorry another pun) all she wants about what I feed Nanuq. By the way, my cat vet is OK with dehydrated raw food for cats. Seems different vets support different foods. Very interesting.

I've been feeding my pets raw for 8-1/2 years with no issues. My dog has food allergies so he gets a rotational diet with specific brands/recipes of kibble along with homemade food. My cats get a homemade raw diet that they all love. They have loads of energy, shiny fur, bright eyes and did I mention energy? :-) The FDA is totally biased against raw food. If pet owners would just wash their hands after handling it. It's no different than washing up after handling meat for human consumption.

I’m so happy your an advocate for raw pet food diet! Our pets vet, and most Ive talked with about r-a-w food gasp when I tell them that’s what I feed! ! I’ve been told I’m going to make my pet seriously I’ll!!! I have been feeding a species appropriate diet for over 10 yrs now and it has saved my kitty from the brink of death due to IBD. I will never stop preparing this raw, healthy diet for my kitties❣️

Hello Dr Jones ! Thank you for sharing. Haha made me smile you trying to show the food ratio! Precisely said and logical, I have been feeding BARF diet for years till to date and the bacteria etc will be neutralised via freezing a couple of days or weeks depending on the meat . I and him my dog ever commercial food . Great vid as always🥰👍🏻

I buy raw chicken in bulk, bag & freeze for 3 days to kill salmonella and unfreeze as needed. Also add raw cucumber, squash, blueberries, liver, gizzards, chicken feet & raw egg. Both of my dogs are in much better health - including teeth & gums.

I think it depends where you buy your Raw food. I would not use commercial raw pet food. I like to know what I feed is fresh, tested and frozen at very low levels. This is just the Pet Food Industry freaking out because they are losing money due to the increase in Raw feeding. Thanks Dr Jones.

Hi Dr Jones. Thank you for yet another wonderful video. Pipi shows remarkable restraint considering you have always mentioned how much he loves his food.
I have wanted to put my cat and dog on a BARF diet since
getting them a year ago but as they were still puppy/kitten I was hesitant to do so in case I didn't get their nutritional needs right. I live in France where BARF is not so widespread and there are only a few suppliers, no regulations and no certifiable information on the meat origin so I have been hesitant to take that risk until they had finished growing. When I raised the issue with my vet she shuddered and gave me the usual list of reasons not to go BARF.

I'm ready to switch my dog onto a BARF diet but I am concerned for my cat. 2 months ago she pretty much stopped eating wet food and will only eat kibble. I do my best to buy the best quality kibble I can get but she is difficult and will refuse to eat that too. She seems to have a preference for junk food! My problem is that she is an outdoor cat and where we live, there are a lot of people who leave bread out for the pigeons (and very poor quality kibble for the stray cats) and she has developed a taste for stale bread.
But that is not my primary concern. She has just been diagnosed as having struvite crystals and the vet wants me to feed her a prescription kibble diet (Hills or RC - I shudder when I look at the ingredients). Do you think that now is a suitable time to start the switch considering her condition?

Raw is the very best food you can feed your dogs and cats. I have been feeding raw for over 40 years and never an issue. Big bag kibble companies with the help of the FDA are trying to save their big bag comsumer base by trying to close down raw food businesses since more people are becoming educated in the proper way to feed your pets by feeding raw. I have been making my own pet food for my dogs for years and I vary it all the time. They never get sick and poop way less than if I was giving kibble. Again another brilliant video. Thank you 👍🐕🐶🐺🐩🐕
