Crowley encouraged his followers to practice yoga. There’s no doubt it’s something Christians need to stay away from, unless you want to be a antenna for demonic entities.

I came to Christ and six months later, I had cancer. When I was recovering, there was a program called Yoga for Cancer, which was free. Although I'm an ex new ager, I had never done yoga in my past. I chanted, meditated, did tarot, astrology, etc, which I renounced when I came to Jesus but I went into yoga thinking, this can help my body heal. We met at 2 locations, one a regular gym but the other was a yoga studio. It was there that the Holy Spirit convicted me. All the new age accouterments were there along with all the statues and idols. I wasn't able to go back after that. And I agree that yoga isn't just stretching. The teachers are so perfectionistic about body placement that it definitely feels like there's a worship element to it. And the Bible is clear that we are not to worship idols.

I agree with this woman wholeheartedly! About 30 years ago, I was practicing yoga. I was meditating in the dead man’s pose, and I suddenly felt my spirit being lifted up and out of my body. It scared me so much that I stopped doing yoga/meditation and I haven’t done it since!

David Hunt has a couple of books that discuss the dangers of yoga and why Christians cannot practice it

My wife had a strong argument with a pastor's wife and the women at a Harvest Church about this subject 10 years ago. We ended up having to leave the church due to so much spiritual compromise. Yes, yoga can be used as exercise alone despite its demonic origins, but why would I? Would I knowingly drink from a Purushamedha chalice used for infant sacrifice? The idea of sacrifice is central to Hindu rituals and spiritual practices.

Pilates in its pure form is far superior, where there are corrupt forms that inject Taoist aspects. Pilates improves strength, particularly core strength, because it often uses an external stimulus, such as the reformer, whereas yoga uses your own body weight. All Christians should be concerned with proper diet and exercise so that our bodies, which are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19), are kept in as good condition as possible. There are too many options to settle upon versus yoga which has a long history of being spiritually compromised, a doorway to the Vedic gods (demons).

"Yoga and the Body of Christ" by Dave Hunt, published in 2011 has been the favored go-to for this subject.

I still don't know much about Doreen Virtue and I know even less about the pastor guy she is associated with but she is on point with yoga, there is nothing that can be Christian about it. Dave Hunt wrote many books about this and she is basically saying what he said. God bless you Chad, thank you!

Yoga was one of the reasons I left the YMCA. I don't know when my YMCA started it, but now they have a Yoga studio and they've gone away from Christ - in Jesus'Name. I decided because it was a religious practice of Hinduism being done in Jesus'Name, I had to leave. I was NOT quiet before or after leaving. It didn't matter what evidence was presented, they have a lot of members participating, which is far more important than honoring God Almighty Maker of Heaven and Earth. I found out from a good friend who is elderly that they say namaste for the chair Yoga my friend attended. I sent my friend the longer video of Doreen Virtue's presentation. I think that my elderly friend is going to stop now. I'm angry that the YMCA led her in idolatry. I've missed the Y and some of my friends there, but I'm glad I left.

Since being saved, she has repented publicly for her past & is speaking out against the new age stuff. Are we not supposed to forgive fellow believers? Mathew 6:15

I had a paranormal experience the first time I did “yoga” at the YMCA. My Zumba instructor suggested I take one of her classes which I didn’t feel peace about. But I took the yoga class anyway at her persistence. In the midst of the yoga class, the instructor told us to lie down and meditate and pray to our “gods.” So we all did that and as I was lying down flat looking at the ceiling, I closed my eyes. And I started praying to the Lord Yahweh. At that moment I opened my eyes and I saw a black shadow was over me, and I said, “I’m not praying to you. I’m praying to the Lord Yahweh.” The entity moved and the black shadow disappeared. Then I felt the Lord tell me, “don’t participate with yoga again, or I won’t intervene on your behalf.” I knew yoga was demonic and if I was going to participate in the works of darkness, then I would be fair game to the enemy.

I never practiced yoga but I associated with 2 churches which had "holy yoga" and I cleaned up a studio which was just a regular yoga studio as a maid. I was a weak Christian at the time. It had an effect on me even though I didn't actually practice it.
