Google Analytics 4 - Why and How To Upgrade

Do you need to drop everything and upgrade to Google Analytics 4? The short answer is 'no'. But you should upgrade if you have time.

GA4 is brand new and doesn't have the capabilities of the current version of Google Analytics called Universal Analytics (UA).

Google recommends you upgrade to GA4 so that you can start collecting data in your GA4 account, but also that you keep UA on your site as well.

Eventually, GA4 is going to be Google's main focus and UA will be phased out. You will need to upgrade by then for sure.

Out of the 2 variant of GA, which one would you suggest for woocommerce analytics? GA4 appears to lack “enhanced ecommerce tracking” that UA has. On the other hands, plugins that allow WOO and GA integration only work with one tag. So I could have both tags running but I can only use one of them for ecommerce tracking and I just do not know which one to go for.

UA does have enhanced ecom tracking, it is a solid tool and there are many guides and videos about it. On the other hand, GA4 will be the norm and what people use in a couple of years and I have no idea which one to choose.

Hi, I have done these steps, however the property created in GA4 are not appearing in power bi GA, on the otherside all properties creating using GA3 are working fine over power bi. is there a Bug in GA4 or did I miss some steps??

Hi. Should I install both tags into the header? Can we track both versions?

Did something change? I set up analytics for my new site last night (Jan 15, 2021) so that is good. So I went into GA for my other 2 sites and for each one it seems like it is already connected. I see buttons that say "See your GA4 property" and "Open connected property". I didn't do anything nor did I add any new code into my header. It appears Google did it for me. Has anyone else noticed that?

If we are using Monster Insights on our WP site, what is the process for setting GA4 up on that? I'm only seeing info about how to add the UA.
