QQ: Why don't they open the other side of the road keeping one lane open for incoming traffic?

Exactly, how are people able to afford to evacuate? Not everyone has extra money for gas, to pay to stay in a hotel, to stock up on extra supplies and all the extras! Some people go from pay check to pay check, they have no extra money till their next pay, some people don’t have cars to evacuate. This is the reality!

I live in the area..this is definitely true..I was in long gas line when guy behind me ran out of gas..strangers pushed and inched his gasless car along the long line and push to the gas pump..goodness still exist👍

Where is a family of seven going to go? I’m disabled. I can’t leave. Like one woman said, “I don’t have evacuation money.” We have 5 kids in college. Our money is gone.

During one hurricane, my brother in law’s family left Largo and headed to Orlando to escape a hurricane and the worst damage turned out to be in Orlando.

Rule of thumb: Don’t move to Florida. Move somewhere near towns have survived for 200 years or more.

That's why I have a diesel truck. 36 gallon tank and an 82-gallon fuel cell in the bed. That's a total of 118 gallons. Average 20 mpg equals 2360 miles.
I will be investing in a 110-gallon tank at home after I build my detached concrete block shed.
I'm in Port Charlotte.
I am praying to God for everyone's safety during these times.
God bless you, and keep Christ in your hearts.

God bless the family in Sarasota who can’t leave because there is no gas and no where to go. I will be praying for your family! My child is a doctor in Sarasota and sometimes people just have to stay put. As a mom all I can do is pray. You will be in my prayers!

I feel bad for the people who get left behind. Elderly patients in nursing homes, the ones on life support in the ICU’s and NICU’s, the few healthcare providers who stay behind because they can’t just abandon everyone……hopefully they’re working hard to get as many transported to other facilities as possible 😢

The governor's telling everybody to flee but they don't have enough gasoline and it's bumper to bumper traffic I hope these people don't get caught in the storm in their automobiles

Shelters are an option. Every county has them. Hunker down and pray. Tornados are the real problem.

Why aren't all freeways, all lanes (both directions) all being used for people needed to flee?

It was the same thing in 2004. There were 4 back to back hurricanes that hit Florida. I was picking up my girls to go to South Carolina when a hurricane was getting ready to roll across Florida, and an 8 - to 9-hour trip took 26 hours. If you think you want to evacuate, then do it as soon as it is clear that you arecin the zone that will be hit.

If now Senator Rick Scott had NOT rejected BILLIONS $$ when he was Florida Governor for HIGH SPEED Rail from the Obama Administration, the trains would have been able to evacuate millions of people without the chaos and traffic! The media need to question Rick Scott about this!
