Hurricane Milton prompts Florida evacuations, airport closures

One of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes on record in heading toward Florida as millions of people are under an evacuation order. Milton quickly strengthened from a tropical storm to a category 5 hurricane within 24 hours. Milton is expected hit Florida’s west coast as a major hurricane, making landfall late Wednesday or early Thursday. The storm could bring 5-10 inches of rain, 10-15 feet storm surge and over 110 mph winds.

Please people, if your in the danger zone, GET OUT. Property can be replaced, lives can't. This isnt something you want to be trapped in your house when no-one can rescue you for days, at least. Im from Australia watching all the live coverage of Milton & it brings tears to my eye's. Reminds me of Katrina. Please leave ppl, or youll regret it as you take your last breath. Sorry to say, but if a meteorologist is in tears, that's telling you something. Don't leave it too late & then regret not leaving.

This is why I left FL
Back to back storms, back to back stress, back to back to preps…then add in exploding insurance costs, if you can get it, plus rising taxes, and quality of life going down down down as congested roads became the norm. I left at the end of 2018, and you couldn’t pay me to go back.

I don't understand why people take so long to leave danger zones

Back in the 90's there was a mandatory evacuation for Jacksonville, Florida. So we tried to get out on US1 North. It took us *12 hours* to JUST get to Waycross Georgia!!! If it had of hit Jacksonville, like they thought we wouldn't have made it:) But it didn't. Our kids could walk to the convenience store to get snacks, FASTER than we could move! It was quite an experience. May God be with you all as you evacuate. ❤ And our house was robbed while we were gone:/

Hope there’s at least gasoline. Hotels are full from the last storm and travelers will need to go a long way. I wonder if there’s even food.

More evacuation lanes should be opened!

It's not coming from the open Atlantic. It's from the Gulf of Mexico

If this storm was never in the Atlantic, why is it an Atlantic hurricane? I certainly hope that no one thinks they should stay for their pets. Find a way to get out.

If desatan wasn't so focused on drag story time the state would be in much better shape and better prepared.

Ever wonder if a Cat 6 would be possible?? Scientist think it's possible in the near future and Milton came close: "The study proposes adding a Category 6 for hurricanes with sustained winds exceeding 192 miles per hour. However, this is only a proposal and the official scale has not been modified, meaning Category 5 is the highest".

Lord Jesus will intervene if His people pray. Jesus can turn this hurricane from category 5 to category 1 in no time. I believe. How many of you pray with me?

And the shaking continues (Hebrews 12:25 to the end). How are your "treasures" taking the shaking? Our Creator is graciously giving us warning.😢

Is terrifying to watch how bad Milton is the fact that people still in the area ismind blowing.

People are slowly learning to pay attention to advance warnings. Wonder how many will try to “ride it out” this time though.

I can’t understand why (in spite of its inherent beauty) people choose to live in locations that invite regular natural disasters.
My family re-located to Florida in 1973 and a few members still live down there to this day. It used to be that these were periodic events that folks would prepare for and could anticipate. There have always been exceptional killer hurricanes but the storms these days seem to me to be more frequent and more dangerous than ever…
Have a care folks and:
