Seeing a lot of folks saying we called Malon "Marin" (the similar character from Link's Awakening), but this isn't the case. We were quoting the developers when refering to Malon, and the character's Japanese name is Maron. You can see this if you watch the video with captions enabled. We should probably have put a note on screen though.

As for calling Lon Lon Ranch "Romani Ranch" in the intro, that was just a dumb mistake and it's a shame we let it slip by.

Few things fascinate me more than Ocarina of Time's development. That game was crazy ambitious for its time.

This stuff is seriously the best content. I love these long forgotten interviews finally being translated.

Kaepora Gaebora originally having a split personality makes so much sense, given how he spins his head around during his idle animation to reveal a second face.

Miyamoto's response to his staff telling him that the ranch guys were just Mario and Luigi was hilarious.

I love this type of content. Feels so nostalgic, but not nostalgic like "I'm playing the same game I have played 1000 times since I was a kid". It's a different type of nostalgia, like we are actually learning and living the news about games from 20 years ago, reading magazines and feeling like the N64 is the most modern and cool thing in the world. I love that feeling

Pokemon Snap having the original VA for Oak is probably a huge reason why its so nostalgic for a lot of people. It felt like an extension, or an episode of the show!

Hiring someone to translate Japanese was the best investment this channel could have made. Awesome video!

Hearing about Charles Martinet going off script as the characters makes me want a Mario anime with the video game voices even more.

Waluigi bring created to annoy the hell out of players is just as believable as the main explanation for creating him.

the river being the 1st stage makes a lot of sense, since the intro cinematic of the game also takes place at the river which I always thought was odd but makes so much more sense now

dev team filming themself for reference for pokemon is basically every dev team. it's the most normal thing, but i'm guessing at the time it wasn't seen as common

I seriously appreciate the work put in to find and translate stuff like this, it gives an even greater insight into what was going on in the companies that produced the games that gave many good childhood memories.

I literally never get tired of this stuff. Listening to retro game trivia whisks me away back to my childhood and reminds me of all the fun I've had playing video games from then until now. It also makes me want to really grow my retro collection until I start looking at the prices of collecting retro these days.
