The La Mancha thing is also a heavy reference to Don Quixote. And the use of a Dulcimer is a possible reference to the name Quixote gives to his love obsession, Dulcinea. Quixote is where we get the term "Tilting at Windmills" from, as in the novel he mistakes one for a giant and attacks it.
