HQ No—you cannot extend a visa inside the United States. A visa is just your ticket to enter the U.S., and it’s issued by a U.S. consulate abroad. What you can do is extend your F-1 student status—which lets you stay and keep studying here legally. But if you want to travel and re-enter, you’ll need to visit a U.S. embassy or consulate to apply for a new visa stamp. Status and visa—they’re not the same thing. Don’t confuse the two. I’m Brad Bernstein, immigration attorney for over 30 years—follow for straight answers you can trust. #F1Visa #StudentVisa #USImmigration #VisaExtension #ImmigrationLawyer #BradBernstein #SEVIS #ImmigrationTips
