Keep in mind the maximum allowable hole size in a supporting stud/joist and the minimum distance to the edges. Protect all pipe and wire pass-throughs with a nail plate.

love this area of plumbing as I’ve gotten on a mainly commercial company where we do a lot of condos and apartments etc. they start you out drilling holes like this all though ours are normally bigger pipes as it’s for the toilets, sinks, air vents. should show us more drilling tips as this stuff would be useful for people like me trying to work my way up to service plumbing

Have not found an arbor big enough to do this what brand are you using

I usually nail a thin piece of plywood over the hole. Mark and drill with proper size holesaw. The plywood keeps the bit in place.

No actually you can’t, at least with Lennox hole saws you can’t. The threaded collar on the bit won’t support two hole saws.

It’s all fun and games until the existing hole blade and the new hole blade require the same arbor 🙄

get rid of that 1.3 ah battery and you will actually be able to drill the hole

Milwaukee would have cut through better

Is there a hole saw to go from a bigger hole to a smaller hole ? I’ve been looking everywhere for one but can’t find it.

You just took out over 60% of the stud width and would fail an inspection
