I'm so excited for this list! I definitely want to read Lineage of Grace this year. I have read a few of the stories, but it was easily decades ago. The ending/romance of Pull of Stars really ruined the book for me. Same with The Women. Love that color on you!

I've never read any biblical fiction but A Lineage of Grace sounds interesting. I may try it at some point this year.

I remember enjoying Between Friends by Debbie Macomber when I read it years ago. Another one by her that's sort of historical was Changing Habits, which is about three nuns.

Keeping Lucy was sooo good. Want to read Carrie Soto is back. The book of lost names was so memorable. I’ll have to check out The pull of the stars! My favorite historical fictions I read in 2025 were: The frozen river by Ariel Lawhon, The women by Kristin Hannah, Keeping Lucy, and The nature of fragile things by Susan Meissner.

I have added all these to my running list, with The Lost Children as a priority read in the next few months since my girls are the same age. I think you would enjoy The Forgotten Cottage and I especially recommend The Frozen River but you may want to wait on that one till you’re further removed from the postpartum period as there are definitely some trigger warnings.

I actually read and enjoyed some Historical fiction in 2024. My favorites include, "On the Rooftop, " by Margaret Sexton Wilkerson. This was a really good story set in San Francisco during the Civil Rights Era. About a mother and her daughters that she is trying to raise to make it big in the music industry. I read Lady Tan's Circle of Women about a Chinese female doctor during the Ming Dynasty. Very interesting. I loved. "The Which Way Tree, " by Elizabeth Crook and I hope it becomes a film. Set during the Civil War, a story about young siblings trying to survive in the West, very adventurous. I enjoyed, The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams about the making of the Oxford dictionary. I enjoyed most of Horse by Geraldine Brooks, except the ending. Still worth the read if you love horses and history of the famous Lexington Horse. The ending has a large trigger for future violence by police against Black people so please be careful 🙏. I also read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon and I was blown away. Happy Historical Reading in 2025😁💜💜💜

Interesting historical is not a genre I go to but you’ve got me interested!! First if Debbie wrote it then it just has to be good. Second do you remember if Lost Children was told from both POVs?

I think my two favorite historical fictions were The Nature of Fragile Things by Susan Meissner and The Comfort of Ghosts (Maisie Dobbs) by Jacqueline Winspear.

I have The Book of Lost Names. I totally get not liking the romances of The Women, it's definitely not my cup of tea either, but I have seen so many documentaries, where people have admitted to doing it after becoming close to somebody and not knowing if there would be a tomorrow. Of course many stayed faithful, but many did not. Drawing a blank on ask that I read in historical fiction, but I think it's what I read the most of last year.
