This song reminds me of one of my favorite stories about the Notre Dame cathedral. During the liberation of Paris in 1944 the parade was walking up to the cathedral when gunfire rang out firing on the crowd, all of the journalists and top generals covered except for de Gaulle who continued walking. It's hard to believe the beautiful and holy cathedral was a warzone at one point but this song reminds me of the peace the people probably felt in that moment, being sheltered by Notre Dame.

I love this song. It reminds me of going to church with my grandmother when I was a child. I was there surrounded by the beauty of the church, but still not being able to grasp the truth. I believe in something greater than myself. But I too tiptoe creaking over prayers. I question my beliefs even to this day. Im 32 years old. I just hope I get to see my grandmother again one day. I miss her.

Thank you fir this video ! But I do think the lyrics are : "I enjoy just being able to be witness of the loneliness and be a higher power..." and not " and fear I abhor" :)

This is a beautiful poetic song of feeling not worthy in Gods house. This song transports me back to being very young going to church and singing and feeling the holy spirit guide us ❤

Personally this songs to me that you are someone who watches all the people have their highs and lows while believing in a god that you don’t think exists and being someone that those people come to where the lyrics “at least I’m looking down” but you do not see urself as a person of higher being just because of it. This is just my opinion and could be totally different from what the actual meaning is and I apologize if I am wrong it is just what I get out of the song. It is a very beautiful song

I’ve no doubt you’ll see your grandmother again. I’m 49 and still each day my mind is blown by the mysteries of our world and learning that our souls are eternal. That’s why I love this song - I feel it’s from a spirits point of view.☘️☠️

Does someone know about the actual meaning of the lyrics? It seems that the narrator is someone who leaves in the church, or even the soul of the church itself, or is it maybe all about the hypocrisy of society? ... Anyways I feel it goes even beyond that... Hope someone's got it right :)

These lyrics are inaccurate and in being wrong, they take from the meaning.

How dare you mangle her words?!

I'm not a sadist I enjoy just being able to be witness of the loneliness and BE A HIGHER POWER IN CASE THERE ISNT ONE

whatever scared follower of Christ was afraid of this line doesn't understand the truth of this song and what it means to be this kind of holy being
