That end switch to the fire reminds me of that quote that "A child that doesn't recieve warmth from it's village will find warmth in its flames"

The pagan aesthetics, the moon and night symbolism.. It's beautiful how Paris plays with ancient symbols of femininity to tell her stories.

I don't know the story behind this song but this made me think of how it feels recovering from depression. Warmth and life returning to me after being frozen for so long. The darkness still being there but the warmth has returned to me and now I can face that darkness, even walk through it but it can't hurt me anymore. ❤

It's thawing
And melting the ice
White goats are grazing on the mountainside
It's golden
Blinded by the sight
Of the water
Moving in the last of the light

I used to think that I
Was running from the night
But I've been following behind
The light, all this time

It can't hurt me
It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning
The warmth is coming back and now, no it can't hurt me
It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning

Moving slowly, tracking laughter through the trees
The sound of the safety that's evaded me
The calling of the birds
The warmth returns
To my extremities, long dead from freezer burn

Moving softly on my feet
I thought it ran from me
But the beckoning sunbeams
Are nearly in reach
Nearly in reach

It can't hurt me
It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning
The warmth is coming back and now, no it can't hurt me
It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning

It can't hurt me
It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning
The warmth is coming back and now, no it can't hurt me
It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning

In the clearing
I reached it
With hands out like a child
Lifting up to eat it
I ate up all the light
And it shone through my teeth
And I tasted sunbeams
Emanating from me
From me, from me

In the clearing
I reached it
With hands out like a child
Lifting up to eat it
I ate up all the light
And it shone through my teeth
And I tasted sunbeams
Emanating from me
From me, from me

It can't hurt me
It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning
The warmth is coming back and now, no it can't hurt me
It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning
It can't hurt me
It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning
The warmth is coming back and now, no it can't hurt me
It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning

This feels like Persephone coming back to the land of the living with Hekate's guidance and the joy she feels when she arrives. ❤

“It’s still there but it can’t hurt me, no the warmth’s returning” how nice of you to summarise my most recent years of recovery for me.

This has Florence + the Machine "Big God" energy. I would love for Paris, Kiki Rockwell, and Flo to collab.

We don't need any more proof to know that Paris is an ancient goddess returning after many centuries

I'm sure it's not the intended message of the song, but my good god... did I just feel like I just listened to my own, inner voice singing. I never found a song that hit home as much as this one did. This is what I felt like when I first realized I was winning my battle against PTSD. It wasn't a sudden, kneejerk realization that rolled in like a victory march after a war with drums and trumpets, but much more like this. Gentler, slower, way more obscure, and accompanied by a quiet echo of the doubts that never shut up. Like a cool breeze in a summer night. You notice it, but just enough to acknowledge it's there.

That was also the first time I truly, consciously realized just how utterly exhausted I was. I knew I was about to come out on the other side, but I didn't have the energy to celebrate. I was so numb from everything. Yet that sliver of hope was there now. Realizing I had lost some of my triggers, my panic attacks not being as crippling anymore. Sleep slowly came easier. Food was enjoyable again and not just a necessity to keep breathing.

Years later now and I've pretty much completely stabilized and settled into a new life I love with all my heart. I'm not a fool though. I know the monster isn't sleeping under the bed. But it's behaving at least, and I learned I'm the one who can make it behave. In the end that's all I really need. "It's still there, but it can't hurt me." Indeed.

Thank you, Paris.

The woman who did too much labour on the island escaped and has begun to heal ❤

Made me cry, because - to me - the refrain symbolises letting go/ healing old and deep trauma.

"It can't hurt me, it's still there, but it can't hurt me - the warmth is returning"

Like a hymn, a prayer, a war cry.

Encouraging, empowering and absolutely "awakening" something inside oneself, similar to what Labour and The Fruits makes one feel.

Thank you for this Paris, you did again - an absolute masterpiece ❤.
