It’s definitely a great medication. I take it as needed which is rare only when my anxiety gets bad and I can’t sleep when I’m at home. I can’t take it while I’m out at work or out of the house period because it makes me sleepy. I have to say it calms and relaxes you mentally from anxiety and also relaxes any tension you have in your body.

The most groundbreaking medication no one talks about. I was addicted to benzodiazepines for 16 years. My psychiatrist prescribed me hydroxyzine and I love it.

I'm kinda amazed by this drug. I had assumed antihistamines were just for treating allergies. I was prescribed it for sleep and it helped greatly while starting my SSRI. I'm one of those people who have a hard time clearing my mind and relaxing while I'm laying in bed. And it works great for that.

this helps me sleep through the night. i used to wake up every morning at 5am screaming, after 6 hours of thrashing around sleepless. now i get 7-8 solid every night. just 25mg at 10pm gets the job done. And I am fine the next morning, no hangover like with Benadryl.

I like it. The only downside is it causes me severe drowsyness, so I take 2 25 MG pills right before I go to sleep. It very quickly knocks me out and puts me into a deep sleep.

Coming close to almost a year on it (25mg and only take it when I really have extreme panic attacks only, because I try to calm these panic attacks with strategies I have learned through therapy and had a 30 day prescription and have had the luck to not use em all yet. It made me sleepy yes "drowsy".. But in situations where I tried doing all my strategies that sometimes unfortunatly can't stop all panic attacks and specially very strong and bad panic attacks, it really helped me personally from very severe attacks where I felt almost like I was dying. I developed ptsd from watching a loved one pass away and reliving the last moments of their life(taking their last breaths and many days of so much uncertainty if he might or might not get out of coma or have brian damage and being brough back to life once and many tubes and many more things. Yes you can get ptsd from other things like even death or tramatic events. My husband and I lost our only child and I almost died from internal bleeding. Please DO NOT BE AFRAID to ask for help. Depression or whatever the case may be, YOU MATTER. Put yr physical/mental/emotional health first. Ask for help and never push yr health aside. God bless you all. Do not be ashamed to ask for help when you have tried everything. Yr life matters and we all have a purpose here on earth.

NOTHING compares to benzos for acute anxiety BUT they can easily ruin your life. Doc gave me hydroxyzine when I came of benzos (nightmare) and I was pretty upset and scoffed at first but I gave it a chance and besides the drowsiness it worked great. Drowsiness becomes much less prominent with time.

I have really bad seasonal allergies and zyrtec, Allegra, claritin weren’t enough. I also have really bad anxiety and panic attacks and this medication has been sooo helpful in treating both!
