I love how he still has his friends sword. Not as a trophy he took from an enemy but rather as a reminder of his fallen friend.

During the final battle, I expected him to sacrifice himself so everyone could escape from the island. But instead, he got to go home. Which is a hell of a lot better.

I like that Marlow doesn't immediately try to hug his son, who surely doesn't recognize the man standing before him. Marlow goes for a handshake instead, and chooses to let things progress naturally, without rushing it.

Damn, she was waiting for him this entire time! She didn't get remarried or move on to different things, and she immediately recognized him as soon as she saw him. THAT is true love and dedication right there!!

Y'know, in an odd way I can think of no better reward for surviving on an island full of giant killer monsters for three decades than the luxury to grow old, fat, and lazy in peace. After years of fighting for his life, the man has earned it.

To anyone who hates this film, they clearly walked out before this scene came on. Marlow was the heart and soul of Kong. He damn well deserved that happy ending!

Best non-monster scene in the Monsterverse. Walking up that driveway was probably one of the hardest things Hank Marlow has ever done.

I wonder if Hank was still alive to finally see his beloved Chicago Cubs win the World Series in 2016? I like to think he was.

I like to think that at some point after returning home, meeting his son and settling in Marlow traveled to Japan at least once to meet Gunpei's family to tell them what happened.

the man survived world war 2, decades on a island alone with creatures straight out of someones nightmare and yet came home back to his wife and son reconnects with them and relaxes with a beer and a hotdog watching the cubs

Damn the sons acting was spot on even with no words. You could immidiently see his reaction to hearing when his mom told him that was his father. The way his head snaps and he enters a brief period of shock. The handshake. Marlows joyful smile, his tears for the lost time. It's amazing what emotion is spun up in the first 60 seconds of this scene. Truly brilliant.

Wow, this is some incredible acting. Not a single word is spoken, yet you can clearly convey what is going on. Was not expecting this at the end. Man tears galore
