I bought a painless kit for my 62 C10, I'm absolutely completely impressed. It came with a 130 page detailed manual for my application, everything is like GM OEM but updated, I can get fuses, flashers & relays from anywhere. I honestly don't know how you can do better for under $400
After doing some research & listening to home boy ramble on.. my advice, go with a painless kit

Absolutely great job Pete. As car guys, we find something we like and we stick with it. Honestly, this is how most of us end up married as well! (LOL) As an auto tech for decades, my early career started with a wiring diagram that folded out 8 page long in the back of the factory service manual. Head lights on the left of page 1, tail lights on the right of page 8. Everything else was in the middle with wire colors only. I am passionate about proper wiring, colors, terminal position, grounds and how to use a digital multi meter to perform voltage drops, opens, shorts & high resistance. Many don’t know but a “Sun Roof” (Or Moon Roof) has four channels with hoses that go down both “A” pillars and “B” pillars and terminate at the rocker panel drain. Clog these up with tree leaves or daily debris, and you have water under the carpet & seats. This causes opens, shorts, power to grounds, all kinds of issues. Thanks again for bringing this companies product to our attention. Thanks Pete!

I had an American auto wire harness and it was garbage. Followed petes advice and now i recommend kwik wire for anyone doing this task. Thanks pete! Helped me get my 71 challenger back on the road after 20+ years! Great in depth video to boot.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I have my Dad's '76 F250 that caught on fire quite a while back. It has a 460 out of a continental instead of the original 390. I only have a basic understanding about wiring. Been struggling to decide how to start fixing it. Don't have the money to pay someone to do it. Also would like to be able to understand it. I decided that ripping out all the existing wire would be the safer way to go. Trying to understand wiring diagrams I found this video. The basic harness is exactly what I need! I love that everything is grouped and clearly marked for this dummy. I am so happy now- I might actually be able to fix it myself!!!

Excellent episode Pete. I really appreciate your detailed (no BS) explanation. Especially since I was looking at replacing the wiring harnesses of a Datsun 240Z I’m considering purchasing.

Watched this video and figured I’d buy the Kwick wire kit based on your review. Yes the instructions are nice. But man they couldn’t have made this “universal” harness much shorter. There isn’t many wires I don’t have to extend. Your better off to pay half the price and get a painless harness at least you’d get what you pay for. This kit is nice but not worth the money. Especially with the length of their wires

Well. I just purchased the 14 circuit kit based on this video. No nonsense, just the facts. Looking forward to installing it in my 1980 Jeep CJ7.

Just like Pete said it, in his early videos he only buys the tool's that works; man is a classic straight up professional can clearly see it in his year's in the business and work he's been putting in.

I got mine and was very impressed. Not only a very good thick manual, each wire has its use right in it. Printed on the coating of the wire. A very good choice for the money. I'll post again once done to let everyone know just how hard or easy it was to use.

Damn,   Where were these people back in 1980 when I was building my 1967  Pontiac Grand Prix ?  Back then was a lot more difficult to tackle vehicle wiring as to everything you need today is just a push button away.  We really had to scrounge around for many items we needed,   but in way, looking back, it was ( to me ) more rewarding.  Pete, remember the days of scrounging?

Thanks, Ive used Painless twice before, and you're right, they are smaller wires and hard to read wires. Painless does have a good manual and good phone tech support.

Painless for my GTO was 130 pages and color photos everywhere and not stapled on the corners. It is a book. Granted this one has binders on it, but that is the only difference in the book.

Ya know, based on what you've shown here, I think I will also use one of these kits in my build... Know this vid is old but it looks like the quality is still there and the price is reasonable... Thanks Pete

I used their wire harness 10 years ago for my 1953 Ford hardtop. It was great, instructions also had many scenarios depending on alternator or generator, was very upgrade friendly. I will buy from them again for the next hot rod!
