Buy Metra Dash Kits

What's up guys its Ray with quality mobile video and today I want to talk to you guys about the difference between car stereo wiring harnesses for an oem stereo as opposed to one for an aftermarket car stereo.

Metra makes it fairly easy to distinguish between them, any harness with a part number that starts with a 70- is meant for an aftermarket car stereo and any part number starting with a 71- is designed specifically for an oem car stereo. (OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacture)

If you are planning on replacing the factory car radio with any aftermarket car stereo such as Pioneer you will need a dash kit and a wiring harness that starts with a 70-. This harness will connect directly to the one intended for the oem stereo on one end with bare wires on the other so the original wires are never cut or spliced.

If you are installing a factory radio like the one that came with the vehicle, a harness that starts with a 71- is what you need. These harnesses are necessary whenever the original wires were cut for an install and the oem plug is no longer attached.

Thanks for the info. I've been trying to figure out what harness I need and every other video I've watched they never explain the harness in detail.
