Pre-Algebra Lesson #16 The Order of Operations with Whole Numbers | PEMDAS

In this lesson, we will learn about the order of operations, which is a way to find the answer for a problem that requires multiple operations. In order for everyone to get the same answer, we follow the ordering: 1) parentheses or grouping symbols, 2) exponents and radicals, 3) multiplication or division worked from left to right, and 4) addition and subtraction worked left to right. It is important to note that steps 3 and 4 are worked left to right. Although M comes before D in PEMDAS, the multiplication and division steps are on the same level, so they are worked left to right. Similarly, for addition and subtraction, they are on the same level and need to be worked left to right.
