slight addition from the peak you just watched, chain drives can also transfer energy vertically, it's less useful than belts in many circumstances but perfect for 1-3 block distances needed to connect gears on slightly different heights. also if you feel like you're not the biggest fan of gear aesthetics you can right click gears and shafts with a casing and cover them, some things like large gears look pretty neat covered imo

Another tip— diorite is just as important as andesite!! That's because you can craft it together with cobble to make more andesite 😊 granite is just as useless as it is in vanilla though

Big water wheel giving more energy is an illusion of simplicity.
Big wheel takes 3x3 space, and need additional space for water, while placing 4 small wheels take 3x3 space, gives twice as much power at twice speed, and can contain water inside of it, making it a real 3x3.

extra tip, when you are stacking large to small cogwheels, you can use an andesite casing on a cogwheel to block the shaft movement of a cogwheel. meaning you can put a small cogwheel against it to save space. let me try to explain it.

column 1: column 2:
(small cogwheel) (large cogwheel connected to small cogwheel)
(encased large cogwheel) (small cogwheel not connected to encased cogwheel)

1:50 actually, you can use chassis for that. if you use a chassis and use superglue to make a face of the chassis sticky, it doesn't consume superglue durability meaning you don't have to get more than iirc 2 slimeballs to make whatever you want.
