Do You Have Sleep Apnea? Here's How To Tell
Показать описание
I just read a shocking new study that says up to 936 million people worldwide have sleep apnea. You heard that right, almost a billion people. That’s 10 TIMES the number we once thought.
So in this video I want to walk through what sleep apnea ACTUALLY is, and how to tell if you might have it. Now, with sleep apnea there’s still a lot of misinformation out there. And many people don’t even know what sleep apnea is or how it could be affecting them.
So first off, what exactly is sleep apnea? Well, as it turns out, sleep apnea is when there is either a partial or complete stoppage of breath while you’re asleep. That’s right. When you have sleep apnea you actually stop breathing for a few moments. That sounds pretty scary and that’s why we take sleep apnea seriously and want to get it treated sooner rather than later.
But why you stop breathing during sleep comes down to whether you have obstructive sleep apnea or central sleep apnea. Central sleep apnea is a neurological issue where your brain actually tells your lungs ‘don’t breathe.’ It’s a very challenging issue to treat, but thankfully it’s not as common as obstructive sleep apnea, or OSA. OSA happens when there is an obstruction of some kind that actually causes you to stop breathing.
