I've had my a7siii for about a year and a half, and it's given me so much more confidence when shooting videos (previous was using a Canon T6 Rebel). But I believe I will always lust over the FX6, that electronic ND makes me feel all gooey on the inside.

recently upgraded to an A7IV from my A6500. Stepping into Full-Frame has been an incredible experience and just the technological jump from the old camera is awesome.

This is arguably the best camera video i've seen. You was honest and didn't push expensive equipment. Thank you Good Sir.

Hey Peter, I just wanted to thank you again for the content you make. I have only just come across you recently as I have been a Peter McKinnon fan for years but I must say I am truly enjoying your videos more. I know you guys are friends and it's not a competition, at all but I just wanted to encourage you and say "keep doing what you are doing" it's awesome!

Thank you for this video! Currently looking to switch from the A6400 to the Sony A7IV. Been using the the A6400 for a few years now and it's a great camera but now i'm starting to feel limited by it. Really excited to go full frame!

I do corporate style video primarily and own two cameras right now: the Sony A6600 and A6400. For talking heads and interviews they are great, but as I get into more documentary style work where I’m using them handheld the rolling shutter and slow sensor readout are things I have to work around. I don’t do enough of that now where I need to upgrade immediately, but I’ve definitely got my eyes on the FX30. I had thought about the A74 and making the jump to full-frame, but I’m still leaning FX30.

Still practicing my skills with a smartphone and a compact camera, but I already have some knowledge what I can share. That's why I decided to start my channel this weekend and focusing topics on creating photos and videos with "low budget stuffs" e.g. compact cameras, smartphones, and action cams. And who knows how far I will go from this.

I purchased an a7iv on release. At the time I was very much a hybrid shooter. To this day I am still the same. No regrets for the purchase. It provides me with everything I need for shooting basically anything. I can't justify buying a dedicated video camera because this one already does it so well. As far as photography it does everything I need it to and more. I imagine I'll be using this camera for years before it becomes obsolete for me.

Thanks for this video Peter I started out shooting on a much cheaper smartphone without manual mode then moved on to shooting with a better smartphone with manual mode and now I have a Sony a5000 with the APSC with the 35mm f1.6 and I just shot my first music video q couple of weeks ago.. so I feel like I connect more to what you're talking about in this video more because I've actually walked and I'm still walking the path 🙂

I'm in a slow transfer to 10 bit video. Last one in line is my A7RIV which I absolutely love for making photos. The locical choice is to switch to the A7RV because that camera has the same sensor (resolution), much better focus, 10 bit 4K video and 60p.

Just doing youtube stuff since now 6 years, started with an 80D and do shoot now on an R7 and R10 (as B-Cam) for me its good enough, do as well product shots and for macro its nice being able to get a little bit closer… Great vid Peter cheers from Germany 😊

My first camera was a canon 80d, just for photography. Then moved to Sony with the A7 III, still just for photography. After a year I got interested in filmmaking and found the a7 iii a bit limiting. So I use a A7 IV for mostly filming now. Still got the iii for taking pictures and as a backup. I'm currently perfectly happy with the a7 iv and what it can do. Once I reach a level that I think the a7 iv is limiting my skills I'll probably upgrade to something like the a7s iii or maybe iv by then.

I´ve been in the same dilema every single time I have to upgrade my gear and sometimes even when choosing equipment for a project. I´ve used almost everything from Reds, Sonys, Canons Cinema Cameras and DSLRs, BM Ursas, Pockets, Arris and Analog Super35mm cameras. I´d recommend to get an entrylevel cinema camera over dslrs everysingle time, since it will give you the versatility to use it in low budget personal projects but you can always mix and match it on bigger productions. Last year I was about to get the FX6 for myself since for most films and tv shows we end up renting whatever is trending at the moment. But it´s always important to have something for commercial, or for second unit and reshoots in case the production need it. And we came across the Ronin 4D. It´s just an amazing camera. I cancelled the FX6 order after testing it in a couple of shots and now it became the A camera for our next film. I totaly recommend it, it´s the directors dream, a camera easy to use, cheap to run and that lower the amount of people and stuff you need to get complex shots. Amazing and fun toy to play with.

I started with this canon, T7i and thanks to YouTube ads. I was able to save up enough for the Sony a 73. Started my video production company got the Sony FS5ii cinema camera, instantly regret it still regret $6000 camera now worth $1500 and I hardly ever used it because it’s too big and I didn’t know anything about codec and super 35 or anything and just didn’t fit in to what I needed it for so anyways a year or two after. I got that Sony a7iv on Releases and that was the best decision I ever made used it for everything Photo And video, and then I use the other cameras, including the Sony FS5ii as my B cam and then a month ago, I finally got the ronin 4d and that camera is an absolute beast. I don’t even touch my other cameras anymore.

I have invested in the Panasonic echo system with cameras & lenses. I own a Panasonic G7, GH5, GH5 II and waiting to see how good the LUMIX S5 II X. The sad thing is I wont be able to use my expensive MF3 lenses on the S5 II X L-mount system.

I've had my nikon d3300 for about 5 years now, and it's been amazing learning the ins and outs and figuring out how to get the best possible video and images out of that camera. Like you said, Peter, now I'm hitting a limited mark. I honestly can't decide between photos or videos because both help me with freelance work. I have been looking at a lot of options like nikon z6, nikon z50, Sony a7iii, and Sony a7iv. Such an important decision 🫠
