I own s5iix, gh6 and gh5. I’m convinced the gh6 is the best value camera ever, especially used. I prefer it for video to my s5iix. The auto focus DOES NOT SUCK on gh6.

Given the small size of so many micro four-thirds lenses a "GX10" would seem to be the perfect camera for the system that just doesn't currently exist.

I picked up the S5 last week as my first full-frame. Sold a G100, which was still better than many made it out to be. I'll grab an S9 once I can afford to as it's kind of perfect for my needs.

Thanks for the video.

I go with the GH6.
The GH6 an the Noctricon 42, 5mm f1.2 are a Monster and my way to go :).
Thanks for your Content 🙌

You left out the og G9, probably one of the best budget Lumix in the used market.

I'm getting a G9II and upgrading from a GX80. I already have a bunch of m4/3 lenses, so i'm staying in the system. Just waiting for some good Black Friday deals in my country like Lumix had last year. It'll be a giant upgrade for me (most excited for PDAF & a more modern sensor + weather sealing). I mostly take pics & only sometimes video, plus i'm not a pro so 32-bit float audio or internal pro-res would be something i'd never use. G9II is going to be awesome for me and it's a bit cheaper than gh7. Also lighter

Where does the S1Rii fit into the equation? I’m a newer photographer and just have no clue about the LUMIX brand but thats the one that I took notice of.

You suggested GH7 over G9II but isn’t the GH7 way more expensive than G9II.
I have been thinking to upgrade to one of these, currently I am a G85 user. And i think G9II is much more worth buying due to its price compared to GH7. What do you suggest?

Dear Lumix, The GH7 needs a firmware update for 4k 120, 1080p 240 auto focus and 300p. I'm switching to Sony or Nikon if it doesn't happen. I'd like to stay with Lumix MFT if I can because of the colors, stabilization, now phase detect and of course the Leica zooms.

Just bought GH7; it's great but everyday carry will still be G100D + 15/1.7. Lumix desperately needs a middle camera - small with IBIS and EVF rising the spec to basic 10bit video.

Interesting. The S1H is still VERRRY capable given the age. I’d still consider it to be the flagship of Lumix. S5iix is a close second.

I'm starting to lean towards the Lumix S9, at first I thought it was a little bit underwhelming but as I saw more and more videos about it now it looks like a great camera to jump to full frame, while the S5iix has better features I rather pair the S9 with the S1h successor whenever it comes out hopefully.

May be a dumb question but if the price of s5iix is same as s9, would the s5iix be the blind purchase (as of nov2024 and all the software updates). Thanks

I'm going to switch completely to the lumix platform, but I haven't decided yet which one to continue on, for photos and videos, but there is a factor of sony and canon competitors here, which one needs to be overcome, which one can you recommend ine for the photo and video business?

Really nice and useful video! It makes a great picture understanding of the landscape Lumix camera's market.
But it's true, it seems all the other companies are really crippled with the sub $1000 USD cameras they offer, like some without IBIS or with less Dynamic Range or bad autofocus, that makes it really hard to make a decision about which one to buy and which brand to get into. So I think Lumix could have a great opportunity to make a difference and give refuge to those buyer's segment to their M43 system, by offering a better camera option in the sub $1000 market. Any successor of the Lunix G95, Lumix G7, Lumix G100D, or Lumix GX series, combining with some good Dynamic Range (like the G9's DR), Lumix IBIS (that is already great, just their basic IBIS) and the new Lumix Autofocus, and some Specs that can match the ones on the new Fuji X-M5, so Lumix could likely have all those consumers of this sub $1000 market excited to get into their system. At the end, no matter the brand, we all find the better deal, best value, best bang for bucks!

Probably the G9ii unless you shoot video as your source of income. The B&H deal for $1200 is too hard to pass up.

For photography - S1 &S1R! Hands down best value cameras if you don't want to have a cry about having a REAL heavy duty body and contrast DFD AF (which is perfectly fine for stills). The EVF alone is worth it over a girly tilty flippy S5.

For me, as a hybrid shooter, on field and studio, the best si S1 with all updates and v-log.

Hi Matthew. Thank you for sharing this great lumix content. Keep up the great work! I just wanted your opinion on something. I am an owner of a gh5 and I am using a metabones speedbooster (Canon EF Lens to Micro Four Thirds T Speed Booster XL 0.64x) and all of my 3 lenses are Ef. I am considering upgrading to a S5iix and not a gh7 which a more reasoned choice I guess. I have seen footage from both cameras and I can say that I like the image quality of S5iix a bit more. However that means that I have to find another adapter to use my Ef lenses (probably the sigma mc-21). What do you think about this? Is it worth? I saw that with this adapter the auto focus system works pretty well too compared to the gh7 and the metabones speedbooster. I am mentioning that because having this auto focus system working properly is a really a major factor for me to consider for my next camera and also to utilize my Ef lenses at the same time.
