Is He The LAST JEW IN NAMIBIA? 🇳🇦 Meet Zvi Gorelick - the only remaining African Jewish Rabbi in the country of Namibia Africa. Born in Namibia, this man has served his father's lineage as president of the Windhoek synagogue and the Namibia Jewish community until recent years when it all faded away and he's left almost alone.

As part of my Africa Travel Vlog 2022 Series, I am excited to share with you this fascinating day in Windhoek Namibia when I met arguably the last remaining leader and president of the Namibia Jewish congregation. Join me on this Namibia travel vlog as I found this ancient 100 years old Jewish synagogue in Windhoek - the capital city of Namibia. Find out the compelling African Jewish history of the Namibian Jews - a once flourishing Jewish community that consisted of doctors, lawyers, and successful entrepreneurs until their very dreadful downfall. Meet the one and only remaining Orthodox Jewish Rabbi Zvi Gorelick, and listen to his fascinating story of the astounding contribution of the Jews to the country of Namibia. Discover why the Jewish people of Namibia have vanished as a community and the courage of this one and only Jew left in Namibia today who is proud to be a Namibian and stay in this African country for the rest of his life.

Very nice interview, very pleasant gentleman. I have to admit I did not know there is a synagogue in Windhoek 50 years ago, may be because I was not particularly looking for one? It was than enough for me to see some old German pubs and the bear, I was young.
But I nave stayed in many little old pubs/hotels in the Cape province in South Africa. Nearly all owners/operators were Jews, nearly all parents come in 20ties last century from Lithuania, may be few from Latvia. In the evenings I had lot of chats with the owners, heard very interesting stories. They were always ready to help, may be because some may have suspect I am secretly Jewish, I am not.???
I can imagine that a Jewish person somehow managed to stray to that part of the World, wrote home.... it not bad the others followed, taking chances. What a coincidental luck they had, compare to those who stayed back to be safer and not to risk too much???

Cheers Victor

Great video. On a visit to Namibia in 2018, Zvi Gorelick was kind enough to open the synagogue for us. He is an amazing individual to hold onto this gem and keep for what's left of the Jewish community in Namibia, a place to worship and not forgetting a place to celebrate a simcha. "Yasher Koach"

My father was appointed as a Judge to the High/Supreme court of Namibia, just before independance, and he was the Jew mentioned by Svi Gorelik, who contributed to the writing of the Constitution with another colleague, Ismael Mohamed. Thanks for the video Peace Out and Go.

Very interesting video with Zvi Gorelick, but I found it annoying and disrespectful that he was interrupted so many times.
