Who want to committing to a “career” that will put you in jail when you do the right thing? All that perks like pensions, benefits + your family… you can kiss that all goodbye because of political agendas.

This was one of the same main issues 8 years ago when Liccardo ran, pension unfunded liabilities, then he won he turned on his promise to reform it and catered to the SJPOA and they got what they wanted. Sounds like whoever wins (Chaves, more than likely…who is sooo corrupt) will do the same. This issue (police pension reform) is a repeating cycle in SJ and it turns up every 8 yrs, with cops of course getting what they want and the city further going into debt (i.e., kicking the can further down another 8yrs).

LE should only get more funding if they can be meet and be transparent about performance metrics like response times, closing rates on cases, rape kit clearance, etc.

We need to make them work for it.

87k is very competitive over time will get over the 100k if you hire new cops you will take away the over time and also for the top cops about to retire in 7 years or less it will take away what they all want work 5 or more years over time so that you can get 120% on your retirement there are plenty of problems but over time is the biggest problem

I bought a home in San Jose 12 years ago. I went from calling the police to report crimes as they occurred to not bothering calling the police when I witness a crime. I've become apathetic.
