Love the design. I agree with pretty much everything you said port spacing, headphone jack, full aluminum enclosure.

Completely agree on the headphone port, it would have made a lot more sense to remove it in the iMac, not the Mini. Maybe around the front or sides?

I have to think of it has the magnetic power port I have to assume it is an external power supply, since using the same connection for high and low voltage is asking for trouble. I like the external power supply on the iMac, not so much here. More than a few Minis end up in racks, and the power brick, extra cable, and having it proprietary are not good things for that environment.

My theory for the headphone jack removal:
Apple will launch the M1X Mac Mini along with a cheaper, M1 iMac-quality display. This display will connect via hdmi or thunderbolt (both of which provide audio), and will have both great speakers and a headphone jack. Basically Apple will want you to either buy and use expensive AirPods (pro and Max), a HomePod device, and/or this external display to get great audio from the M1X Mac Mini.

I mean this is just a render … the iMac took a lot of people by surprise, I think the spacing will be appropriate for the usb c ports.

You would need a Microphone and a headphone/speaker out port. Especially for professionals that will need speakers and a microphone. Spacing out the ports, and this could be ideal with a portable Display, you can take this with you. Also, this is small enough to be portable, you should have a battery in it. But you should because, what if the power goes out? This can be an issue for the Desktop Mac's as well. You can take it and a portable display on an RV trip. I kind of like this Mac Mini-er. At home, hook it up to a widescreen display, but on the go, hook it up to a portable display.

Hopefully, Apple will space the ports a little further apart, and give us both an audio in and an audio out, so that we can plug in a microphone and speakers.

Wondering if more Thunderbolt ports also means we can connect more than two displays. Right now it's 1 with HDMI and 1 with Thunderbolt.

M1X will have a peak draw of 50W - 60W or so. Yes the GPU cores are that efficient. A quality cooling system can handle that easily.

I mostly agree with your thoughts except probably for the power brick, if they are planning to use the same external brick for 2 version of iMac and Mac mini, the cost will decrese drammatically, and for the base iMac there is no ethernet port too. Another thing is thermal, without power less heat so only one fan is just enought, even if the grid in the base is pretty strange in my opinion. For colors i' m assuming that the Pro versione will be white and alluminium like the original 2005 and the M2 version will have the same colors of the iMac lineup to match the colors of keyboards, trackpad and mouse alredy in production. Good job man.

I think the vent should not be at the bottom as the heat blows at the desk and gets stuck between it and the Mac. it Should be in the back or the top or the sides

A mac desktop is a communal device. Removing the ability to hookup some speakers will mean they are shooting themselves in the foot

Make it all aluminum. Color is fine as long as it's the rich, bold colors on the back of the new iMacs and not the pastel stuff. Fix the port spacing. Put the headphone jack back, I use a splitter so my speakers can pull double duty on both the Mini & my gaming PC. Add a 2nd fan. Give me all the cores, especially GPU.

I would totally buy a Mac Mini M1x with green plexiglass top. Totally on the BUY now list. :) I agree on the render that the 4 thunder bolts are too close.. I thought I read the headphone jack was moved to the front or side? Back would be better.. honestly the headphone jack is not ideal anyway. I ended up getting a Peavy ($50) USB to 1/4 or XLR (Better) and it’s super clean to powered JBL Studio Monitors 8” (always buy JBL on sale) and it’s insane vs any headphone jack unbalanced cable speaker system. Is there any clue if the dimensions width/depth same as current Mac Mini? That way could be same size to stack on existing Mini hubs etc. Anyway for my work, M1 would be a huge step up from my 2014 MBP 15” but I’m looking to drop coin on the M1x... and mini would be ideal. Lowest money paid for best computing power output. Honestly a green iMac with M1x would do the same for me... but if Mini M1x comes first, I’ll jump that route.. I already have a Dell 4K monitor (Ultrasharp.. Meh... but does rotate to portrait mode). And dozens of keyboards laying around or even just get another $15 Bluetooth keyboard that works just fine... like I use with my iPads. Anyway good times for digital artist that prefer mac platform. Can’t wait to edit my 4K BRAW from Blackmagic on a modern Mac M1 or M1x.
