Film Theory: The Dark Avengers Are Coming! (Marvel Phase 4 & Black Widow)

With Black Widow being pushed back to the end of the year, we have plenty of time to dissect the trailer for any and all secrets hidden in it! I think that by using the Black Widow trailer, I've figured out exactly what Marvel has planned for Phase 4 - and boy is it a doozy! I think not only are we getting General Ross as Red Hulk, but I think we may be getting an entire lineup of Dark Avengers! Get ready for some serious theorising folks!

I was legitimately confused when the title screen for Flim Theory showed up, like "Isn't this a Pitch Meeting?"

I'd say Matt got like 10% right in this theory. Yes, Yelena is joining the Thunderbolts/Dark Avengers, but they're led by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, not Ross (although the two may be working together). However, AIM didn't show up, supersoldier serum didn't show up, face-swapping didn't show up (other than the same masks as in previous films), there's no indication that Red Hulk is part of the team (the other member we know about is U.S.Agent, and trailers for Shang Chi imply that Abomination may take the "similar to Hulk" slot instead of Red Hulk), and we're explicitly given mundane explanations for Natasha's hair and vest (rather than those being hints she's really Yelena).

The only issue I see with the whole Natasha swap theory is that in Endgame when her and Hawkeye go to Vormir to get the Soul Stone Red Skull calls her Natasha Romanaff and says her fathers name and it’s clear that the Red Skull has mystical powers of some sort when it comes to identifying people who seek the soul stone meaning that if it wasn’t really Natasha he would of knew

Well, this video certainly...aged...

But honestly he didn't do half bad. ScarJo may not be coming back, and Secretary Ross may have had nothing to do with it, but Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine's appearance at the end of the movie, after showing up in TFATWS, is pretty concrete evidence that we're getting _some_ version of the Dark Avengers. That's exciting.
