Questions to Ask at the End of a Second-Round Interview | 'Do you have any questions for me?'

Do you have a second-round interview (or third, or fourth, etc.) coming up? If so, CONGRATS! You’ve made it through the first round and now you’re doing exactly what I would recommend: research ways to prepare for your next interview and come up with questions to ask at the end of your interview.

As I have shared many times before: under no circumstance should you NOT prepare questions for the interviewers. You can expect your interview (even a second, third, or fourth-round interview) to end with the question, “do you have any questions for us?” ABSOLUTELY DO NOT SAY “No, no questions.”

I wanted to say thank you for this, I kept getting 2-3 rounds of interviews for positions and I feel sometimes there's just not enough "good" questions to ask after you've been through that many rounds and you've heard so much and asked so many questions already! I just accepted a job offer from a place I'm really excited to work for and I used the question in this video for my final round about what one-on-ones with the supervisor will look like, the answer to which ended up being an important consideration about the position too -- so thank you! And good luck to everyone who is in the interview process!

SECOND INTERVIEW

Thanks for the video.

1 - Culture
a) What is an example of somthing that would only happen here, and woudn't at other organizations?
b) What would my 1:1's look like with my direct manager or supervisor ?
Whould types of things could we expect to discuss?
c) Can I see your calendar for the week?
Needs to give them an introduction: I'm really looking for a company that values learning/development .coaching/mentoring.
d) What are the tops reasons people choose to leave their jobs here?
e) what's the hardest piece of feedback you received? What's the hardest piece of feedback you've given?
f) How's your team describe you?

2 - Role-specific:

a) What type of trainning can I expect when I start?
b) What will separate someone who is good at this job versus Great at this job?
c) Who owns the goals and how decisions are made about what work needs to be done? What influence do I have towards those goals?
d) Could you talk about the team that I will be working with?
e) What are the immediate projects or tasks that need to be addressed?
f) what is the biggest challenge I can expect to face in this position?

3 - Hard questions

a ) What could I have done better as a part of this interview process?
b) Is There anything that I could have done differently in this interview to better describe how I will fit into this position?
c) If I were to get this job, what do you see as the biggest challengs facing me that other candidates may not need to face?
d) Would you like to see any examples( or any more examples) of my work?
e) Do I have any gaps in my experience or education that make you hesitant about my fit for this role?
f) Can I clarify anything else for you?

THANK YOU! I watched a few of your videos for my interview process recently and I got the job! I hadn’t had an interview in 15 years and was so nervous and unsure. These videos seriously saved me!!! I had been going on interviews and just failing all of them. After watching these, I knew exactly what to say and how to say it. The interviewers were impressed by my candor in asking some of the questions you recommended. Again, THANK YOU! I will be recommending your channel to anyone I know going into the interview process. Keep going, you have a gift!!!!

Great tips but I would never ever ask to see someone's calendar that is too personal and I think some would find it offputting.

Great video! I've found your videos very helpful and was even complimented in a recent interview about how great my questions were and how impressed they were that I took notes! All information I've learned from your videos. My question for you is, what about roles we are interviewing for that we do not plan on remaining at for longer than 6 months or so? Should we remain unemployed until our "dream role" comes along or speak honestly about how we are searching for other positions more fitting?

The position I'll be interviewing for isn't that technical or involved. It's for a Reception/C/S position. Are there different types of questions I could ask the Interviewer that would apply? From the job description I wouldn't be working on Projects or Presentations! Thank you, Alexis

These are awesome and insightful questions. And let's face it, if your employer has red flags, wouldn't you rather discover them as part of the interview process and not after you've already resigned from your previous job?

I have an upcoming second interview and have researched my hiring manager, learning that she has only been with the company for 4 months. Would these types of questions still apply?
