00:00 Transpose vs unpivot vs pivot
00:10 Transpose data (swivel rows to columns and columns to rows)
00:35 Unpivot data (normalize data so less columns and more rows typically)
00:48 Key data in unpivot appears in own columns (typically dates and amounts)
01:00 Transpose has the same number of cells, just switched
01:16 Unpivot has more cells (typically less columns, more rows) and some data is filled in

Understanding the difference between Transposing data and Unpivoting (or Pivoting) the data. Transpose is a simple swapping of the rows and columns and you should have the exact same number of entries. Unpivot changes the look of the data so that every row has all the key information and (typically) date and value numbers appear in only 2 columns so that it is easy to create a Pivot Table and other reports out of the data. Unpivot is very useful when you extract reports from systems where the dates are in their own columns and you need them all in one column.
