You need to have homemade southern stuffing. No box mix will ever compare.

The point is the mix is mixed with turkey gravy, and has all the flavors of the bird mixed with the great flavors of the stuffing. For me, the stuffing is a major part of the taste. But each to their own.

i tried stuffing this thanksgiving and although i couldn't really taste it (got sick this week but was well enough to not get other sick) the texture was enough to make me not want to eat it

I hated stuffing for years until last year when I tried it I thought it tasted decent as a British person loving over to america usually people make it plain but add some seasoning and it’s amazing

I didn't grow up with stuffing as a side dish, but a home made bread with dried fruit, usually also home made.
This bread with gravy is so much better than stuffing 😋

Its all in the recipe. It needs to have home grown herbs that you have dried yourself to bring out the rich savory flavors, dried sage, and thyme, and fresh picked sprig of rosemary stripped off its stem and chopped finely. It needs the savory to be offset with sweetness from a chopped ripe apple and a handful of raisins and broken walnut meats. The toasted bread needs to be cubed not crumbs and regular or whole wheat not sourdough. Saute half a large diced onion and 2 pressed garlic cloves in a whole stick of butter. Toss all of the ingredients together in a large bowl and then stir in a whole carton or about 2 cans of chicken stock until thoroughly moistened. Turn out in a greased baking dish cover and bake 350°F oven 1hr.

No. You are entirely correct. Stuffing is wet bread, which is one of the nastiest textures out there

There's different stuffing recipes! The one my family makes is so full of flavor. The one you held in your hands looked way too plain and honestly I'm sure it doesn't taste great either haha.
