Having a new teenage driver behind the wheel can be highly stressful for parents. Fortunately, Ford has developed a technology that makes teen drivers a little safer and allows parents to breathe a little easier. It's called MyKey, and it's standard on most new products from the blue oval and its Lincoln luxury brand.

To explain how MyKey works, there are two keys: a master one for you and a second key to give to your teen driver. With the master key, you can set important limits on such items as speed and stereo volume. When your teen driver climbs behind the wheel with the second key, he'll find that these limits have been put in place to make his driving safer.

When thinking about features that provide teen-driver safety and parental peace of mind, few automakers offer anything that comes close to MyKey. If you're interested, we highly recommend making sure that your next new or used vehicle is a Ford that offers MyKey technology.

This thing sucks. Bought explorer used both keys are my key. Can't exceed 80 which almost got us run over by semi because we couldn't get out of the way. Costs 350 to 500 to fix without admin key. It should be an automatic clear of key by dealership when vehicle changes ownership.
