44 years: That's how long it's been since the Voyager 2 space probe left our blue home planet to subsequently gain new insights into our galactic neighborhood in the endless expanses of space. During this time, NASA's unmanned spacecraft penetrated an incredible 12 billion miles into space and passed numerous planets of our solar system during its flight. While Voyager 2 has regularly sent important data to Earth over the past four and a half decades, the connection to the world-famous probe was severed for many months in March of last year. We will now reveal the reasons for this and how the experts of the renowned space agency finally managed to restore the signal to Voyager 2. However, before we get into this topic, we would like to take a look at the spacecraft’s history together with you. In today's video, you’ll find out which celestial bodies the probe has already visited during its decades-long flight, which galactic milestones have been recorded in the process and what the future of the venerable space vehicle looks like.

In summary, a radio antenna in Australia was upgraded. It took a couple of weeks. Contact was reestablished after the fix. Rest of the video is filler...

Voyager's response: "Thank you for contacting us we have been trying to reach you about your vehicle's extended warranty."

We were married just 6 days before the launch in 1977. 😊 We heard about the launch while on our honeymoon in Hawaii. We are still going strong and plan many more years of happiness. We hope that Voyager will continue just as well! Very interesting, I didn’t know they had reconnected contact, this is wonderful. Thank you.

Wow 40 years later, they can still contact voyager billions of miles away. But when we have a video of "ufo " on earth we have a camera from the 80's.

"Voyager 2 is the first probe to reach Uranus..."
This is strictly a no-fly zone buddy.

Voyagers response: Did you guys know there’s a Dollar General out here?

Amazing. Simply amazing. 12 billion miles from earth equals about 18 light hours, basically a fraction of a light year or about .002 light years. Just stuff that you do not need to know.

Has it been modified by an alien race, turned into a massive ship, gained sentience, and now goes by "V'Ger"?

I was in great anticipation before the Voyagers blasted off, couldn’t wait until they reached Jupiter. Followed progress all these years, still amused by these two sister ships. Hats off to the engineers.

It’s crazy how we can reestablish contact with something 12 billion miles away but I can’t get a fucking McFlurry because the ice cream machine is down

Voyager's message...."I've been every where, man! Smelled the mountain air, man! We can contact Voyager 12 billion miles away, but my Dish signal quits when it rains...

This makes me very happy 😊, because I was one of four USAF aircraft stationed around the world for both of the Voyager launches. I was being trained as the radio operator aboard a EC135 aircraft. Aircraft tail number 326 call sign AGAR-21. Our aircraft staging location was out of PERTH AUSTRALIA for both Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. It brings great pleasure to see my 22 year UNITED STATES AIR FORCE career completed this way. ARIA (Advanced range instrumentation aircraft)……

I was ten years old when NASA launched the space probe and as a child it did fascinate me then with wonders as I was asking my dad about how long we would be able to keep contact with it. I am filled with uncanny feelings now as I have reached that time when the contact is coming to an end soon and hopefully within my lifetime I will see the to end of a certain space probe era.
