It find it hilarious that at 1:20, the crew is just fanboying all like “Wow! Our captain is so awesome!” And meanwhile Eurylochus is thinking “Oh, gods, we’re never making it home, are we?”

The stupidest part of all of this is that in most accounts of this moment Odysseus not only gave his name AND the kingdom he ruled, he also told the Cyclops his father's name, which is essentially the ancient Greek version of telling someone your social security number.

Anyone else realize when Odysseus said "I am your darkest moment" he also meant that literally and not just "Oh you hurt my friends so that means I must hurt you as revenge"? Because he made the cyclops blind now the cyclops can't see anything

I like how the musical frames this mistake being one that was the result of a man struggling to cope with trauma, rather than a man full of ego.
And this animatic captures that.
The fact Odysseus is wearing Polites’ head band- just my heart.

Every time I hear this song people always come into the comments and say how this was the biggest mistake Odysseus could have made and make jokes about how stupid he was. And while I wholeheartedly agree I just can’t ignore how absolutely phenomenal this scene was. The build up to him saying his name for the first time in the musical and singing “I am the reigning king of Ithaca” was absolutely amazing. I just can’t ignore and pretend it wasn’t.

I love this musical because it gives sense to all the non-logical things of the myth. Like, why would you say your real name when you lied to him before?? Because you're in pain, and want the killer of your friends to remember the situation and the truth, because your rage and grief doesn't let you think

Honestly if Athena really wanted to impart wisdom she should have said, “stay anonymous because this cyclops just so happens to be the son of Poseidon, the god you need to get back home on your voyage across the sea”

0:23 his friend's headband turning into blood was so perfect! It shows how much he blames himself and that he wants to avoid bloodshed if possible. Fantastic, very well done.

It was dumb but I think it was a good move by the creators to turn a out if character act of hubris into a grand act of spite at the end of a long character act. He’s just gotten out of the most traumatic battle yet and he’s been told he’s not even allowed this small mercy.

I like how here in this musical, there's a good reason behind Odysseus making that one fatal mistake as compared to the original (I believe he did it out of pride, not sure). Like he did it cause he didn't want to let his friends' death be in vain. It's more of a representation of all his pain and trauma and it's just done really well in the musical and in this animatic! :)) Love the attention to detail with Athena and how Ody looked so proud of himself at that moment. You're real cool, keep it up!^^

A little info for those that don't, know all cyclops's are son's of *Poseidon* so him shouting his name while on his boat is the swiftest death sentence ever to be passed
