No Shoulder Turn Swing! [ It's a Good Thing ]

🏌️Ready to Learn The Holy Grail of Golf™? Start Your Training Today!

The reason this works is because most people turn their shoulders on the same plane as they turn their hips. This is a natural motion to us but it doesn’t work in golf. When we think we’re retarding the rotation of the shoulders they actually turn correctly and on the proper plane. Instead of the right shoulder moving out and forward, it moves down and through as it should.
If the swing starts from the ground up the shoulders and head would be the LAST thing to come through. OTT golfers turn their shoulders with their hips and the club is the last thing to come through. A good drill to teach this is to let go with your right hand as you move through impact keeping the right elbow on the right hip. Take a few swings this way and then swing without taking your right hand off. You should now notice that your right shoulder is the last thing to come through.
If the shoulders don’t resist there is never full extension through the ball. The shoulders turning too much will allow the arms to remain slack. By resisting the turn of the shoulder all speed is transferred into the clubhead and full extension of the arms can be achieved properly.

Golf should not be a struggle. Golf should not be hard. Golf is easy if you know the secret. Start playing golf well. Gain confidence and have more fun playing golf.

Yes. Yes. Yes. For the past 3 weeks, before stumbling upon this video, my main swing thought has been, "Keep the right shoulder back, Ray." I hit my first 260 yard drive with this thought. It's very nice to have confirmation! Thank you.

Another expert web golf instructor said left shoulder down for the backswing right shoulder down for the forward swing. Great illustration!

Of all the videos and lessons I’ve taken in past year THIS VIDEO HELPS ME THE MOST with maintaining my spine tilt and release. It especially stops me from straightening up at impact and flipping my wrists. Thanks Brother!

That was the best explanation I’ve ever heard regarding how the shoulder works in the downswing.
Light bulb moment. Thanks !!

My God, the simplicity of this golf move has stopped my coming over the top, shanking and toeing my irons. You're a blessing. Thank you.

Makes sense, & it wasn't a 40 minute technical lecture either. Thanks Mr. Overhand!

Makes 1000% sense! Been working on this during my round today. It’s all about making a good follow through, keeping right shoulder low 👍

There is elegance in its simplicity. Kudos, OG. Well stated.

Genius! This is the key missing component from all golf instruction!! I've been working on this for quite sometime and improved my game a lot!! you can work with "no shoulder turn" but also with "keep your chest closed in transition", it will make you "feel" you are not rotating quickly and avoid over the top move, also generate a better impact!

I’ve been following you now on YouTube for a little while. I think your instructions are so practical, and they break things down in a way where people can understand them. The golf swing is such a mysterious thing to understand conceptually and I feel like you make it very easy. Practicing today’s drill and hoping to avoid from getting over the top. Thank you for sharing this very much appreciate it.

yup, it works! I always had trouble coming over the top. To cure it, I basically did the same thing but thought about it a bit different. I always make sure to complete the back swing, and then I envision keeping my back to the target longer. This lets me get the club coming more from inside the target line and the right shoulder will go under like you show.

Just like a chest pass in basketball, you are pushing against the shoulder instead of letting the right shoulder come forward toward the ball...brilliant! Thanks and adds speed!

You hit the nail on the head with this one. Great way of explaining it, and by doing the opposite of what you thinks you should be doing really works. Great teaching points and explanation.

Really well thought out stuff here, because by keeping the right shoulder relaxed and inactive, you can deliver the club from the inside, as opposed to coming over the top. I've had good luck by keeping my back facing the target as long as possible starting down, but whatever, this video should help a lot of guys start playing better golf. Well done!!!

That makes perfect sense to me, thinking this way could cure all manor of golf swing ills.

Love your sharp, smart and sensible tips. I am now 72 and the swing I had at 18 to 40 (before sholder operations) no longer exists. What a surprise!! Was playing off 6.
I have made a comeback to golf about 2 years ago but I am hitting pulls, snap hooks and thin fairway woods. My restart handicap is 26. I think, after watching this video we may have hit onto onr of my issues. Will keep you posted. Thznks for your channel.

This makes sense to me. Finally I don't think of myself trying to contort into some impossible position by doing ten things at once, perfectly, to achieve a better swing. I was kinda doing this anyway, so I'll just use this info to help reinforce "MY" swing. Thanks.
