How can people expect 17 year old teenager girl who sheltered for 14 years, never had any friends supposed to act like a 30 year old adult?

I think both Avatars show someone who is the opposite of what the world wanted. Aang's world wanted an avatar who could stop the fire nation and restore peace, but Aang was (at first) pacifist, even a bit naive and scared

Korra's world was moving on from the spirits, and wanted to also leave behind the avatar. They wanted a peacekeeper, a diplomat, and nothing more than a figurehead, yet they got Korra

Still, both overcame their internal struggles and external obstacles to serve the world. And most importantly of all (in my opinion) they didn't do it alone

"Aangs story is for the children in us. Korras is for the teenager in us. Aangs story is ultimately about hope, Korras is about perseverance. I watched Aangs story and loved it when it first came out. It took a rewatch for me to love Korras story, because I needed to mature. Korra for me is the better story, because hers is more nuanced and complex.

Amon destroyed her image as “master of all four elements, ” Unaloque destroyed her image as “the bridge between the two worlds, ” and Zaheer destroyed her image as “Korra.”

As you said water is the element of change. Korra brought more change to the world then most avatars. While air being the element of freedom, symbolizes how Aang brought freedom to the four nations by defeating Ozai. The writers for these shows never cease to amaze.

I think one of the hardest things to go through is living life without purpose. Struggling is hard but struggling with no purpose can make the pain seem endless. Korra had to figure out her purpose while everyone was telling her she was not wanted.

When he quoted Uncle Iroh's thoughts on the water tribe I got major goosebumps. This channel is amazing

I love Korra, honestly I connected with her more than I ever did with Aang. Don’t get me wrong, I love Aang of course, that’s my childhood. But I just never connected with him like I did with Korra.

Even if you don’t like Korra, she deserves respect for everything she’s had to endure and overcome. Her tough experiences pnly made her better as a person - more humble and wise

"Korra's story was sad, but in order for her to become in tune with the world, she needed to suffer."
Wow that hit a really personal note. As someone who's lived their entire life encountering tragedy, sorrow, and so very much pain, that line really provides a new perspective. An especially useful one considering recent personal growth. As if to think the world would benefit so much more from the person you would become only after the trauma and suffering have taught their lessons. Hmm, more to think about I suppose.
Thank you, kindly Sage. For the nudge in perspective, and the superb quality I've come to expect from you. Sincerely, keep up the great work.

Korra, both the character and the show, are criminally underrated. She has such a beautiful development arc, watching her fight her way through ptsd, enduring mind numbing amounts of pain and suffering. She is a completely different person by the end, and ill always be proud of Korra!

Just finished my rewatch of Korra, and it’s really grown on me. I used to be one of those people that always compared it to ATLA. But now that I’ve had time to rewatch and reflect, Korra has become one of my favorite characters.

She’s the polar opposite from Aang, and over the course of 4 seasons developed from someone understandably overconfident to someone humbled and insightful. She’s had everything thrown at her and she’s grown so much bc of it. great video sage a re-upload still means more sage content :)

Me personally, I relate more to Korra than Aang. Aang is generally good-natured, which admittedly I'm not (at least to the same level as he is) Korra is more down-to-earth personality and a bit of a hard shell. I feel like I grow as well as she develops her own path. Weirdly, she gives me same vibe as Sokka. Sokka started out as somewhat a loveable jerk, but he means well and become such a leader

That's why I love the last minutes of the show, after a season seeing Korra at her lowest, in her eyes, in her voice in all of her you see how down she was through not only the three years of healing but what happened in Balance but when she and Asami sit to talk and then you see in the way Korra speaks about the vacation you can hear a joy that was lost and in those final seconds walking with Asami you see that look full of hope that seemed lost, just how happy Korra is to be in Asami.

If only more cared to understand Korra in the way you eloquently illustrated. They'd see the Legend of Korra as _her_ journey. One built out purposefully in opposition of the world Aang knew and grew in. To show that from the onset, Korra was better equipped for prior eras and Aang was better set for the current era. Imo she suffered immensely, because the Avatar itself had to be adaptable to the rapidly changing times. As it stands to reason why the cycle not only did but had to become anew(it paralleled the rapid change that befell Wan's time and the inception of the Avatar).

As someone that battled through depression, Korra is a good representation, I really like her and the show

When i was younger and i saw korra, I hated her for being to quick to jump to dangerous situations and hated when aang disappeared and for many years I did not see legend of korra again. But after it came out on Netflix, seeing it as an adult I realized that she was very similar to how I was and then I began to feel for her. So I like her now and hope that the next series covers the great things she's done.
