Zuko’s Scar Has a Hidden Meaning

There is a lot more to Zuko's scar in Avatar The Last Airbender than what meets the eye.

So when Zuko looks to his non-scarred side, he does what's RIGHT and when looking to his scarred side he goes back to the path he LEFT. Poetic.

It's always been debated if Zuko's scar affects the vision in his left eye. Lore wise I don't think so, but thematically it definitely does! When he makes the wrong choices it's because he misjudges people and his perception is cloudy or skewed. Likewise, when he makes good choices, it's because he can finally think and see clearly.

Headcanon : The reason Zuko didn't complain about the Ember Island actor wearing the scar on the wrong side until the kid made a remark is because it likely didn't occur to him as his subconscious didn't find it disturbing since he's only ever seen it in reversed (mirrors), and is also the only one who does so (apart from the Ember Island play writers fcourse). Thematically, you could take it as while everyone is easily able to see Zuko for what he really is, he himself needs to correct his own view trough a mental projection (like he had to look within himself in order to process his redemption).
