Every decision we make carries some inherent risk to it. We have identified consistent neural responses following risky decision-making and following feedback from risky decision-making. Previous research examining neural responses to risky decision-making have used gambling tasks, which is specific to the financial field of risk-taking. Hence, we don’t know how neural responses to risky decision-making in other areas of risk-taking, such as recreational or social risk-taking, differ from decision-making in the financial field. As a result, this summarisation of the literature can help guide future research in neural responses to risky decision-making by identifying methodological strengths and limitations in the current literature.
