I need this, I have large hairs in my nose and it's started to bug me. Not only that but i can feel the tangle of the hairs which means I need to cut them

As long as its removed quickly there is no pain. Also only remove the lower hair not the back ones.

For people who have never done it (I did it just last week) you feel almost nothing and it's not painful at all.

No need to do that, I used to cut my late hubby's nose hair with a hair trimmer, it took forever to grow back out.

I'm a medical esthetician and this is absolutely not how we do facial waxing services. You always firmly hold the bridge of the nose and add compression afterwards. In terms of sanitation and station set up - I have zero critiques. This place has clearly very highly trained cosmetologists. But still, you never should wax this way. I'm saying this as a cautionary tip not to come at this barber.

But in my esthetic program we had a cosmetology program on the other side of the building. Cos students learn basic waxing, but not to the degree we do in esthetics. And conversely, all estheticians are certified to do manicures and basic pedicures - but our nail art and manicire skills are no where near what they learn in cosmetology. And simultaneously cos students learn a basic facial but cannot perform one at the level of an esthetics student. Waxing, while it is a service to remove hair, falls more into skincare and esthetics than it does cosmetology and barber vocation.

Technically, because nostrills are a mucosal membrane and an internal part of the body - no one but an esthetician should be performing this service. Most of the spas I worked in wouldn't even offer this service. We are not nurses or surgeons. If the wax temp is too high, or conversely too low and it sets sooner than it should - we are not trained in emergency surgery.

In school we studdied so many cases of nose waxings gone wrong. If it goes too far up and sets around hairs that shouldn't be removed - medical intervention might be required. Which even as a medical esthetician - I am not licensed to provide.

Its the same reason why when you book a service at MAC or Sephora, the artist will not line your waterline. Its technically an internal part of your body. This should never be done at a barber shop/hair salon. Additionally, whenever we actually do nose waxes in spa, we never ever do both nostrils at the same time. If the client is a nose breather, this cuts off their bodies instinctual process of breathing. Always one after the other. You never seal off an entire airway at the same time. So many issues with this service.
