I recently produced a video about how use my favorite task management application, Todoist, but ironically after producing that video, I'm moving away from Todoist and trying another task management application called Informant 5. In this video I explain why I'm making the switch.

I'm a few months late but I just found this video! Coincidentally I just switched from Todoist to Informant 5 and It's just so much more useful. I agree with everything you said about the bugs!! It's not a slick, shiny app, but nothing elss out there is as comprehensive (as far as I know).

I have been a long-term user or Pocket Informant (now Informant 5) and have really tried to make it work. The lack of Windows/web availabilty kills it for me. Everything else can be customized to be at least a little more usable (for me) than Todoist, TickTick, Things, and Toodledo. But having to use Windows (not Outlook) in a work environent and keep tasks in a separate Mac environment is difficult. Todoist makes that much easier. I (for personal reasons) will continue to keep my subscription up to date and try again periodically, but don't see swithing back for now. I appreciate the video from someone outside the company shoiwing off the app.

Try redoing your Informant with your Calendar as a calendar and your tasks as Projects, tasks and lists within overall areas and notes unto itself. You’ll get a much cleaner yet still syneristiclook.

Thank you for your video. I also need this week view you mentioned. I am currently using PlanPlus online from Franklin Covey, since I used the paper version for decades and do like the system. PlanPlus Online however has poor sync with mobile devices for tasks. Does Informant 5 allow Franklin Covey-like organization of tasks or just GTD? Best, Paulo - from Sao Paulo, Brazil

You make a good point. I have used Things 3, Todoist and many others but Informant 5 is better than them all.

Not sure if you are aware that, if you use Google Calendar, there is a two-way sync option in Todoist that you can setup. I have it setup and it works great for me. I can see all of my todoist items/tasks on my Google calendar alongside all of my calendar entries and I can also see my Google calendar items within my Todoist account setup, if needed. Not sure if this is what you were looking for or not. Check it out!!!!

Great video! Would really like to see a video on how to set up the different kinds of tasks and sub tasks. Also another good video idea would to be one about the three different tasks modes. Again great video.

Thanks for the info, but $50 for the Mac version is a little out of my price range. Maybe we can get Setapp to pick it up.

I’ve had Informant for quite some time now but have always been reluctant to change my task management system to it. I think though. I have probably used everything under the sun. Informant is nice as it provides three comprehensive module =s in one but it;s androd verions has to be the King of Soup. It works fine though like any list manager. In choosing one though it simply is what are you most comfortable using. That is will keep you productivel You can get a Overwhelmed in ‘todoist as anything. I useed Omnifocus at one point but it ewas overkill for my needs and even though it’s a sound program like any of these you can go too far. I now use Things and just like the clean look and feel. Informant is fine but really is a good calendar, task manager and notepad all mashed into onel OR YOU CAN GET STANDALONES THAT WORK PERFECTLY WITH OTHER STANDALONES. They all work in some way the same so you have to ask yourself what do you feel most comfortable with and that’s what’s going to work for you. This works for you. Things with busycal and DEVONTHINK work for me. But so do other arrangements. If you hate what you’re working with you won’t be at all productive. So Informant should not be underestiated.

You should sync to Toodledo if you want to integrate with IFTTT

Have you tried OmniFocus? I tried several iterations of Informant, and used Todoist for more than 1 year. I then found OmniFocus, and find it to be a better-designed and executed tool for my needs.

Your issue with Todoist is kind of solved with the GCalendar integration.

If you want a good calendar view, then TickTick would be a much better choice - Informant looks HORRIBLE!
