This is week 1 of my DIY Basement Finishing / Remodel Series where I am going to take you through the entire basement renovation process, step-by-step.

Download my FREE Basement Finishing EBOOK which will show you ever step of the basement finishing process IN DETAIL so that you can finish your own basement:

In week 1 of the basement remodel, I demolished some of the existing work that was done by the previous owner and I cleaned up the entire basement to give myself a clean slate.

After cleaning the basement, I discovered that there was a water leak where the wall met the floor slab (which is called the cove joint). This was a huge blow since I did not budget or plan for water remediation.

I called a waterproofing company and we decided that an interior drain tile system would be the best method for fixing the situation. Interior drain tiles are installed on the inside of the home and they collect water and route it to a sump / sump pump so that it can be pumped to the home's exterior.

This basement waterproofing work cost me a few thousand dollars - which was annoying and expensive.

Hopefully, I can make up that money as the basement finishing project Progresses.

What company did you use? I was quoted a little over $10, 000 and was hoping to pay less

Cinder blocks suck. You'll have more leaks.
