No. He's just an impulsive narcissist. That's all. He thought he could run it better.

It's good that Cenk got the last word in, he was the only one talking sense on that panel.

Agree 100% with Cenk. Elon is acting out just like in the hilarious Onion article: "Please like me. Please, for the love of all that is holy, consider me clever and interesting." He's VERY similar to Trump: there is some gaping hole or wound in his emotional development, that his outward expression of egotistical bombast is just a coping mechanism. In reality, he is extremely fragile and controllable; all you have to do is give him a little praise, and he'll do whatever you want. Conversely, criticism brings about an immediate backlash (e.g., firings by tweet), even if it's constructive and the firing ultimately hurts him--he just can't handle any perceived attack, no matter how slight.

Close your twitter account…close Trump and Musk.

Man Rick seemed genuinely upset at the end. My dude, Musk tried to back out of the deal several times before being forced to go through with it. He then fired half the staff and IMMEDIATELY tried to start hiring them back. Anyone who thinks he's making calculated moves to tank twitter is giving him WAY too much credit (and yes, I used to give him way more credit than he deserves too, but I'm just not blind... he's obviously flailing)

My guess is that Elon Musk's original goal wasn't to diminish communication between left wing groups, because Facebook and Twitter were already infamous for having their thumbs on the scale in choosing which groups to amplify and that they were already hindering left wing voices. I think that Elon Musk wanted to turn Twitter into a social media version of Fox News to amplify right wing voices even more, and is now having buyers remorse.

People believing billionaires will be their "savior" and treating them as messiahs is a spiritually rotting of faith. Your belief system has been comprised. Whatever that might be.

You’re giving him more credit than he deserves

Suggesting that Elon Musk is deliberately tanking Twitter gives Musk *FAR* too much credit. He's not a Machiavellian genius. He's just out of his element and his overconfidence is catching up with him.

Never assume malice when stupidity will suffice.

Why is it so hard to believe that Musk is just incompetent and too impulsive to sustain lifelong success?

I wouldn't now ever buy a Tesla. Just leave Twitter. It's broken.

He has literally never displayed anywhere near the level of intelligence required to be doing this on purpose. There is significantly more evidence he drank his own Kool aid, and believes he isn't the fraud that he is.

I don't think he bought it to destroy it. I do think he realized it was a mistake to buy it but it was already to late to do anything about it. Remember, he tried to get out of the deal to buy it originally. He certainly has no idea what he is doing with Twitter. He tried to charge 20 bucks for blue checkmark, then knocked it down to 8 because of the backlash. He fired a bunch of people but then realized he actually needed some of them and tried to hire them back. He gave the remaining employees an ultimatum and they quit en masse.

Agree with Cenk. He's not nearly as intelligent and infallible as his cult of personality makes him out to be.

Sorry, but Rick Strom's take is just idiotic here. There's zero chance this is Elon's goal, and even if it was this is a terrible way to silence people, they can just move to tiktok or whatever the next platform is. Rick's stuck in an echo chamber. Cenk is definitely right on this one.

The thought of Larry Ellison losing a cool billion in this debacle just makes me smile.
