How do you get to study when you have zero motivation to do so? It's a problem we've all faced, myself included. Let's be real, watching Jocko Willink YouTube videos amps you up in the moment, but motivation doesn't sustain you, and soon enough, you're back in a rut.

I get it. I've been there. There have been countless times where the last thing I wanted to do was study, but I consistently managed to get myself to do it. Here's how:

Who else is supposed to be studying... but is scrolling down comments to find relatable things instead?

Dude, I can't take breaks. Starting is indeed the hardest part. With me it's either pull an all-nighter or taking a seven-week-break after 25 min of working. 🤦🏻‍♀️

The reward system just doesn’t work for me :( e.g. I promise myself a cookie after finishing my work but then my brain is like „but you can just eat the cookie now and don’t do anything“ and I just can’t argue with that logic 🤷🏻‍♀️

Quick Summary:
1. Audit Yourself, examine your system. Keep journal. Mark at what time you were doing what.
2. Say "so what". When you dont feel studying.
3. Use "and" instead of "but".
4. Starting is hardest part - Divide tasks into smaller one.
5. Use Pomodoro - 25min work, 5min break.
6. When starting is hard - Complete some easier task to create a momentum.
7. Lower your expectations and just start the task.
8. Add some spice - Switch Subjects or topics.
- Rewards yourself
- Move, exercise or walking

Edit:
Fixed 3rd point. Thanks for 4K likes.

Personal Summary:
• Audit Yourself - Open a journal/note and jot down how you're feeling over a period of time. Then add in your solutions.
• Power of Language - "So what?" say it out when you're not feeling motivated. Use "and" instead of "but"
• Lower the Activation Energy - Create sub-tasks, decrease commitment, choose easy tasks, and lower your expectations.
• Add Some Spice - Have a reward system, vary the subject matter and move!

1. Note the pain points
2. The power of language
- I don't feel like studying
"SO WHAT?"
- I have to study for my midterms but I don't feel like it.
USE "AND" INSTEAD OF "BUT"
• Two phrases independent of each other and don't effect each other.
• I am accountable
3. Lower Activation Energy.
The problem is with getting started.
Divide the tasks into the smallest of chunks.
Do the same with time commitments.
No "long-term commitments". You can quit whenever you want. But once you get started, you wouldn't want to do so. The Zeigarnic Effect.
4. Start with the easiest tasks.
5. Lower your expectations. Start with the intention of writing something bad.
6. When you have been studying for some time and eventually run out of steam::: Add some spice.

• Subject Variations.
• Vary methods
• reward system
• Move --
- new location
- exercise
