according to this I'm overweight borderline obese yet I'm as healthy as someone with normal bmi and normal weight I think this chart needs to become obsolete

Great and timely video. My wife was put on gabapentin just as menopause began. The drug was prescribed for pain from a spinal tumor. Her weight gain in 6 months from the body change and the gabapentin was in excess of 65 pounds.

This has caused many problems, recently the onset of severe breathing difficulties similar to severe COPD when heat and humidity rise. It has been a battle, because it is the age-old argument of ' I have always been eating like this' .

While she has agreed to start changing her lifestyle ( massive sugar intake is tbe worst ), she had no idea where to look for accuracy when it relates to a BMI chart. We trust your judgment, as you have helped us many times in the past.

Ok, I went online and checked 3 different sites with BMI ( body mass index) charts. They were all significantly different than this one. All of them, for example, said that a 5'8" person was "normal" at about 150 pounds. This chart says that person is obese. Check for yourself. You will find that this chart is wrong.

BMI is obsolete. I run 40-50 miles a week, as fit as I've ever been with 11 percent body fat, and yet based on this chart I'm considered overweight...since I'm 6'0 height and weigh 205lbs, , where I have a tone body. The medical community should revise this metric.

More accurate is the u.s. navy bmi calculator. Its takes body measurements not just height and weight.

this chart is so hard to believe. at my healthiest I was 128 lbs and could not loose another lb no matter what I did. at 5'4 that makes me over weight. So no matter what I do i live in the overweight category?

I’m obese like my bmi is 32 . Something and my cholesterol is normal. Yes I had it checked just not making up that I have normal cholesterol.

Doc. I'm a male standing at 5' 8" so this chart is saying I would be normal at 120lbs? I'm Actually down from 220 to 168 at present and most my friends and family are telling me that I look like I'm going to disappear and if I loose anymore weight at this point I will definitely look unhealthy. Yet this chart basically says I'm still not normal until I'm about 160lbs. and would still be considered healthy at 120lbs. I too believe this chart has to be off. Especially at the lower end of this chart. I would look anorexic or as if I were dieing of cancer or something at that weight. Is it true that such a low weight as that still be a healthy weight? Yikes

went on Keto diet lost 22 lbs just had physical all my #S are great Im 53/ I went from 138lbs to 117. Im 5 8 Bmi is 17.5. Dr sais I lost too much what to do

I force ate to make my face look less gaunt. I was 140 for most of my 30s. I got sick and got to 99 pounds. I was healthy again at 115, but my face look awful. So i force ate to 124. Im 5"3.5 and 124 pounds now. Not sure if this was a bad decision. My BMI is 22
