Since 2020 it has felt like being slowly crushed in a press. Between housing cost, inflation, covid restrictions, cost of living you can feel hope diminishing in real time

Being in the trucking industry for 10 years, I’ll be the first to say that truckers are also suffering. Big companies that provide freight have kept their rates stagnant. Meanwhile truckers have to pay more at the pump while getting paid less. This isn’t good!

May 15th, 2022, I paid $6.59 a gallon for diesel in San Jose, Calif...

First off, as an independent trucker who is spending on average $2500 a week and Diesel fuel. I have a refrigerated trailer, Meaning I haul food. Rates have dropped and yet my operating cost have gone through the roof. A load a year ago of potatoes from Idaho to Florida paid $8000. Today that same load is paying $6000. With fuel prices double. My front steer tires a year ago were $530 each they are now over $700 apiece. Every operating cost in trucking has increased and yet the rate to haul the freight has decreased. Trucking news outlets are saying it’s because there’s too many truck drivers and brokers can undercut the price of freight. Someone needs to get on the same page and let us know what the real issue is. For me not to go out of business means. I have to work more and be home even less. By that I might have three days off at home every two months. Fuck capitalism and fuck both these corrupt political parties that do absolutely nothing for the working class. I am fed up With this bullshit system that only benefits the Rich. While people like me, are working our fucking asses off. Try running the country without truckers, good luck. Even though I can’t, I support other truckers joining a union. Every blue-collar worker in the United States should be unionized. Good luck everyone we’re going to need it with these assholes who run this country. ✌🏽❤️🍕

So as cattle ranchers in the middle of nowhere Oregon with a side business of livestock transportation, we have moved from a rock and a hard place to the rock firmly planted on our backs.

I'm calling BS on 10% inflation. It probably over 20%. Everything I buy is gone up much higher than 20%. From gas electricity beef chicken potato chips dog food tires for vehicles also vehicles in general. I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of living has actually gone up 50%

Called this a while ago. When things won’t get shipped as often, prices on everything will skyrocket.

I didnt! As a truck driver my rates are almost cut in half and fuel is double from two years ago. Wtf! $1200 to fill my rig and I run it out in 2 days

My brother and I are parking our rig after this week and moving to company driver. We’ve been paying over 6k a week in diesel and the freight dropped drastically. The parts and services also went up due to supply shortages so there’s no point running our own truck. I’m glad all my hard earned tax dollars are helping other countries out while we foot the bill. Get used to coming shortages and price gouging. Economic collapse won’t be far behind.

Diesel is between $5.40 and $5.80 up in the central northern states. There are a ridiculous amount of semis being parked right now. This is going to get very bad, very quickly.

When the truckers can’t afford to resupply our grocery stores we can rest in comfort knowing the adults are back in charge

Thank you for covering such an important topic when no one else is

Chevron's Richmond refinery in northern California has can produce tens of thousands of barrels of jet and diesel daily. Unfortunately their refinery operators have been on strike for 2 months. It's currently being ran by scabs and unqualified middle managers so production is extremely low compared to when being ran by qualified operators. The operators are on strike for better safety protocols, medical coverage and a small cost of living increases to help combat record inflation. Saagar please take a look at the situation. Any coverage helps. Thanks

The lack of outrage & coverage of this blows my mind. It's $6/gallon here in CA.

THANK YOU SAAGAR! It's the #1 issue for everyone I know and everyone in the media seems to have gotten bored with talking about it.

My step dad just switched to my old Jeep that I have not drove in a few years. The diesel is just too much for him to deal with right now.
